Swansea City record against Forest
Games won: 23
Games drawn: 16
Games lost: 26

Over the last ten games the swans have only won twice. The last time was in the play off semi final in May 2011. And you probably recall that quite well. So this trip isn’t the most successful for the swans. Before that Swansea last won at Forest in May 2006. A lively day for those who recall the trip. Fires included - and a wonder goal From Trundle to win the game, but we must not forget Adrian Forbes superb goal to bring the score level.

That play off semi final game

What is a Nottingham ?
To understand this you have to ensure your knowledge on Terrence Trent Derby is up to scratch. Terence was a mate of mine in the army, he was from Nottingham, unfortunately being named the same as the local river by the football ground, and the bigger club Derby did meet with some problems.

Not Tin Ham
As soon as you break the new name for Nottingham down you get to see the old name. In 1648 before tinned products the area was called Not Tin Ham. Many people used to say this a lot, they didn’t know what it meant until 1823 when tin was invented by a chap called Steve Duffy. Before the people of Not Tin Ham could even comprehend this major change they ran out of ham. Someone, probably an adult suggested they make some tin and they bought some from Steve Duffy who has a shop in Matlock. They put all the ham they could find in foiled wraps of tin. Which at last ensured the local folk would always remember the name of their small town. But only when they ran out of stock. Yes, the true history of Not Tin Ham.

Not Tin Ham yesterday

Supporters of Nottingham Forest seriously do resent being called Notts Forest, as that’s like being Notts County which albeit are in the same city are not a rival due to the fact that’s not a thing. So never say Notts Forest, it offends them all the time and most of all when you say it.

Football news

Notts Forest v Swansea City

PRE-MATCH STATS

Nottingham Forest have only lost one of their last nine league games (W5 D3), with that defeat coming away from home in March 2011 (2-3).

Swansea City are winless in seven away league visits to the City Ground to face Nottingham Forest (D3 L4).

Nottingham Forest manager Chris Hughton has won 26 of his last 37 home matches in the Championship (excl. play-offs), drawing eight and losing three of the other 11.

Swansea City haven’t lost consecutive away league matches since losing seven in a row under Graham Potter between February and April 2019.

Nottingham Forest striker Lyle Taylor is looking to become the first Forest player to score in four consecutive league appearances at the City Ground since Dexter Blackstock in May 2015.

The Independent Mole

Nottingham Forest play host to Swansea City on Sunday afternoon on the back of recording two successive defeats in the Championship. Meanwhile, Swansea make the long trip to the City Ground having won just one of their last four matches, leaving the club four points adrift of leaders Norwich City. However, while 12 points from nine matches is a respectable return, Hughton and the club's fanbase would have expected more from his opening seven weeks in charge.

Forest had been heading in the right direction before the international break, but defeats at Barnsley and Bournemouth have put a negative spin on the progression of Hughton's side.

On a positive note, Forest still sit three points above the relegation zone ahead of back-to-back home fixtures, which represent an opportunity to make progress up the standings. That will only be achieved if Lyle Taylor receives a helping hand in attack with the summer arrival still the only player to score more than once in the league. Swansea are still searching for a solution to their own issues in front of goal, but the work of their backline has kept the club in the playoffs since the start of the season. While only Middlesbrough possess a better defensive record after 13 matches, Swansea find themselves in joint-ninth in the standings for the final third. Steve Cooper will have few complaints while the Welsh outfit remain in the top six, but Andre Ayew has now scored 40% of the club's strikes.

Ayew on form in front of goal, there’s that dodgy ref again

Isaac Independent View

Sunday’s Championship game sees two teams experiencing contrasting seasons go toe-to-toe, as Nottingham Forest welcome Swansea City.MThe hosts have lost their last two games and they remain three points above the bottom three. Barring a huge goal swing, Forest will not drop into the relegation zone with a loss but a defeat will raise concerns once again. Swansea City will rue their draw to Sheffield Wednesday in midweek as they missed the chance to close the gap on the top two.

A loss could see them drop out of the top six entirely if results elsewhere all go against them. A win could see them jump into the automatic promotion spaces if permeations go their way. There is a lot to play for in this clash.

Referee Tony Harrington
We have had him already this season, not literally, that’s not football.
Harrington began refereeing in the Teesside Junior Football Alliance at the age of 14, having completed a basic refereeing course whilst at school as part of the Duke of Edinburgh award. After four years as an EFL assistant referee and four years as a National League referee, he was appointed to the EFL Referees List in 2012/13 and has now overseen more than 190 EFL matches. Tony is the Grandson of Tommy McGuigan, who is in the Hartlepool United record books for top 10 number of appearances and goals for the club.

Referee’s recent games involving Swansea City
The last game he was official for was the 2-1 home defeat to Huddersfield Town. Nothing remarkable happened other than a wasteful day in front of goal for the swans. Prior to that he was the referee last season when the swans won 3- 0 at Middlesbrough. He was also the referee last season for the eventful game on and off the pitch in front of 23,000 at Ashton Gate. In that match he oddly sent off Jake Bidwell.

When did Tony Harrington decide the result of a Swansea City game ?
In 2018 Harrington was the referee who awarded those two ridiculous penalties converted by now swans player Ryan Manning. Ryan described the awards as absolutely shocking. Rotherham won the game 2-1. Harrington was never credited with these two assists but what do you think ?

Those two penalty decisions could be described as nothing more than very dodgy

Today’s table shows a simple 1/2/3.
Win and the swans go potentially 3rd, probably 4th.
Draw and the swans go 5th
Lose and the swans stay 7th

Not the greatest performance, but a really excellent result - just the kind of result that a team needs for promotion. If we found the money for two signings in January (and kept Ayew) we'd have a real chance of automatic promotion.

Yet another clean sheet for our supposedly useless weak tiny keeper.

The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which.

10 signings already this season. A poor workman always wants more tools.

Don't you think we need a central striker? I agree with a lot of your posts, but Cullen is not the answer - at least not this season. If we had had somebody sharp alongside Ayew we'd be top three.

But surely even you with your knowledge can see that we need a striker jasp?

Unless he will use gyokeres more now that hes back from his isolation or will use him and cullen sparingly until january when he can send gyokeres back to brighton and get another PL striker on loan.

Ayew's as good a centre forward as anyone in the division. Lowe does a good job running about even if his finishing is not all there. Cooper gave him the number 9 shirt knowing we'd be playing this system, and also chose to bring in Gyokeres. We've got an academy player as 4th choice injury backup. Routs has also played his best football over the last few seasons centrally, leading the line.

So no, we're not short. If you don't rate Cooper's picks that's a slightly different discussion. Playing this system benefits from a dynamic front pairing that can drop in and stretch the game into wide areas, not necessarily a pair of traditional centre-forwards-by-birth. And it's not like Cooper likes to rotate or use his bench.

I agree, he's marmite, but in a defensive role he is as good as any one.
In front of goal and set pieces dramatically opposite.

Cooper frustrates the hell out of me; we have as a good a squad as any in this division bar norwich, yet we can not sustain any dominance and invariably hang on by lumping balls out of defence for 20 minutes.
3 points - fantastic ... always good news.
but we were playing a poor team and didn't create anything other than half chances.
Wonderful goal by Roberts who really deserved it for his tenacity but it came from a bit grunt, a speculative hook into the box, a fortuitous half clearance and a defender and goalkeeper who had switched off.
Not as bad as Monk yet but thre's not much in it.

Not sure what our fans expect.
We go away to a decent enough forest team who were only place below us last year. This season they will not conceed many under Houghton.
We had as many shots as the home team 13 each
We had three on target to their 1
We had 8 corners to their 6
We kept a clean sheet
We scored 1
We got 3 points.

I think we higher than last season where we had a slump in November.

Admittedly we need another attacking player or attacking midfielder who can score 15 goals a season but they are hard enough to find and not cheap.

Our squad is better in most positions this season and we have cover in just about every position.

Cooper has managed the high number of games in a short period with a midweek game every week by rotating and resting players where needed.

Note we have played 14 league games compared to the 9 and 10 the premier league teams have played and he has not moaned like some PL managers, klopp for one, about too many games despite the PL teams having bigger squads.

Note I did not see today's game so can only judge my comments on the match reports.

Knockaert put a horrible revenge challenge in on Grimes' calf right in front of the ref. Should have been off. Arter lost his head a bit as well. He's always struck me as easily-rattled.

Rodon starts for Spurs in a bit. Hope he has a good game and starts earning us those bonus clauses.

Knockeart was very lucky to stay on, especially when viewed from the referee's angle of sight.

It's not that I don't rate his selections it's that to most of us see that whilst we are the best team defensively in the EFL we dont score many goals.

Whilst ayew and lowe fit the system cooper has got us playing and playing well may I say, having an out and out striker up there would give a few more goals as we do create chance but cannot finish them.
