Swansea City record against Forest
Games won: 23
Games drawn: 16
Games lost: 26

Over the last ten games the swans have only won twice. The last time was in the play off semi final in May 2011. And you probably recall that quite well. So this trip isn’t the most successful for the swans. Before that Swansea last won at Forest in May 2006. A lively day for those who recall the trip. Fires included - and a wonder goal From Trundle to win the game, but we must not forget Adrian Forbes superb goal to bring the score level.

That play off semi final game

What is a Nottingham ?
To understand this you have to ensure your knowledge on Terrence Trent Derby is up to scratch. Terence was a mate of mine in the army, he was from Nottingham, unfortunately being named the same as the local river by the football ground, and the bigger club Derby did meet with some problems.

Not Tin Ham
As soon as you break the new name for Nottingham down you get to see the old name. In 1648 before tinned products the area was called Not Tin Ham. Many people used to say this a lot, they didn’t know what it meant until 1823 when tin was invented by a chap called Steve Duffy. Before the people of Not Tin Ham could even comprehend this major change they ran out of ham. Someone, probably an adult suggested they make some tin and they bought some from Steve Duffy who has a shop in Matlock. They put all the ham they could find in foiled wraps of tin. Which at last ensured the local folk would always remember the name of their small town. But only when they ran out of stock. Yes, the true history of Not Tin Ham.

Not Tin Ham yesterday

Supporters of Nottingham Forest seriously do resent being called Notts Forest, as that’s like being Notts County which albeit are in the same city are not a rival due to the fact that’s not a thing. So never say Notts Forest, it offends them all the time and most of all when you say it.

Football news

Notts Forest v Swansea City

PRE-MATCH STATS

Nottingham Forest have only lost one of their last nine league games (W5 D3), with that defeat coming away from home in March 2011 (2-3).

Swansea City are winless in seven away league visits to the City Ground to face Nottingham Forest (D3 L4).

Nottingham Forest manager Chris Hughton has won 26 of his last 37 home matches in the Championship (excl. play-offs), drawing eight and losing three of the other 11.

Swansea City haven’t lost consecutive away league matches since losing seven in a row under Graham Potter between February and April 2019.

Nottingham Forest striker Lyle Taylor is looking to become the first Forest player to score in four consecutive league appearances at the City Ground since Dexter Blackstock in May 2015.

The Independent Mole

Nottingham Forest play host to Swansea City on Sunday afternoon on the back of recording two successive defeats in the Championship. Meanwhile, Swansea make the long trip to the City Ground having won just one of their last four matches, leaving the club four points adrift of leaders Norwich City. However, while 12 points from nine matches is a respectable return, Hughton and the club's fanbase would have expected more from his opening seven weeks in charge.

Forest had been heading in the right direction before the international break, but defeats at Barnsley and Bournemouth have put a negative spin on the progression of Hughton's side.

On a positive note, Forest still sit three points above the relegation zone ahead of back-to-back home fixtures, which represent an opportunity to make progress up the standings. That will only be achieved if Lyle Taylor receives a helping hand in attack with the summer arrival still the only player to score more than once in the league. Swansea are still searching for a solution to their own issues in front of goal, but the work of their backline has kept the club in the playoffs since the start of the season. While only Middlesbrough possess a better defensive record after 13 matches, Swansea find themselves in joint-ninth in the standings for the final third. Steve Cooper will have few complaints while the Welsh outfit remain in the top six, but Andre Ayew has now scored 40% of the club's strikes.

Ayew on form in front of goal, there’s that dodgy ref again

Isaac Independent View

Sunday’s Championship game sees two teams experiencing contrasting seasons go toe-to-toe, as Nottingham Forest welcome Swansea City.MThe hosts have lost their last two games and they remain three points above the bottom three. Barring a huge goal swing, Forest will not drop into the relegation zone with a loss but a defeat will raise concerns once again. Swansea City will rue their draw to Sheffield Wednesday in midweek as they missed the chance to close the gap on the top two.

A loss could see them drop out of the top six entirely if results elsewhere all go against them. A win could see them jump into the automatic promotion spaces if permeations go their way. There is a lot to play for in this clash.

Referee Tony Harrington
We have had him already this season, not literally, that’s not football.
Harrington began refereeing in the Teesside Junior Football Alliance at the age of 14, having completed a basic refereeing course whilst at school as part of the Duke of Edinburgh award. After four years as an EFL assistant referee and four years as a National League referee, he was appointed to the EFL Referees List in 2012/13 and has now overseen more than 190 EFL matches. Tony is the Grandson of Tommy McGuigan, who is in the Hartlepool United record books for top 10 number of appearances and goals for the club.

Referee’s recent games involving Swansea City
The last game he was official for was the 2-1 home defeat to Huddersfield Town. Nothing remarkable happened other than a wasteful day in front of goal for the swans. Prior to that he was the referee last season when the swans won 3- 0 at Middlesbrough. He was also the referee last season for the eventful game on and off the pitch in front of 23,000 at Ashton Gate. In that match he oddly sent off Jake Bidwell.

When did Tony Harrington decide the result of a Swansea City game ?
In 2018 Harrington was the referee who awarded those two ridiculous penalties converted by now swans player Ryan Manning. Ryan described the awards as absolutely shocking. Rotherham won the game 2-1. Harrington was never credited with these two assists but what do you think ?

Those two penalty decisions could be described as nothing more than very dodgy

Today’s table shows a simple 1/2/3.
Win and the swans go potentially 3rd, probably 4th.
Draw and the swans go 5th
Lose and the swans stay 7th

It's not that I don't rate his selections it's that to most of us see that whilst we are the best team defensively in the EFL we dont score many goals.

Whilst ayew and lowe fit the system cooper has got us playing and playing well may I say, having an out and out striker up there would give a few more goals as we do create chance but cannot finish them.

And Gyokeres doesn't count because...

The fluidity, dynamism and clever interplay is the key to our forward play, and is what sets us apart. Teams are starting to work us out so Cooper needs to mix things up to maintain our clever edge.

If Lowe gets a rest (which he will do given his all-out game), wouldn't be surprised if he gives Garrick a chance - to run the channels and get in behind defences. Also wouldn't be surprised if Asoro gets recalled as back-up for the same role.

To mix things up - Vik has shown his ability to get into the right spaces, drop deepish, run his socks off and has a deft touch - very Bamford-esque. Cullen as back-up sub.

Today's starting 11 is our first choice set-up and personnel., with options aplenty. Exciting times for Swans fans (with the 'odd' exception ofc).

I agree, he's marmite, but in a defensive role he is as good as any one.
In front of goal and set pieces dramatically opposite.

Spot on. I was impressed with his defensive effort today - several superb last-ditch tackles to relieve pressure. But then his passes are not just off target, but off pace as well. He seems unable to slide a pass through to a colleague, he slams it at them. And I was relieved that free kicks and corners are now being taken by other players, although with similar ineffectiveness if I’m honest.

Defensively superb but his passing has been off recently save on sublime through ball perfectly placed against Wednesday.

His backward and sideways passing slows us right down. Contrast the Brentford game where with Fulton and Smith running the show we cut through them effortlessly.

Food for thought for Cooper. When MGW comes back (and if we keep Palmer) Grimes may struggle to get in the side.

Agreed. With Palmer coming on second half to give Dhanda a rest. Fulton has really shown some class this season and Smith has much improved after an indifferent start.

Grimes is a quality player, who is a great passer of the ball his game is about switching play quickly or passing into the front man feet and getting return,,that's why under potter he won every player of the year award, because we played with wingers further up the pitch and when he received ball he knew he could switch play out wide, also mcburnie he could fire ball into him and stick, with cooper there is no width only full backs and its congested and nothing out wide behind their full backs, also ayew comes deep and Lowe can't hold ball so it looks as if Grimes gives bad ball when passing into Lowe..

The official Nottingham Forest v Swansea City Matchday thread : Sat Update 4pm* on 07:25 - Nov 30 with 845 viewsDr_Winston

Team moved the ball quickly enough when Grimes was benched earlier in the season. Team moves the ball slowly now he's back in the side.

It's not rocket surgery.

Fulton, Smith & Dhanda should be our midfield now.

Despite Dhanda's marked improvement he's too lightweight against the better teams - he was rag-dolled by Brentford in particular.

An excellent prospect who will no doubt continue his upward trajectory under Cooper especially against weaker teams, or when we're comfortably ahead in matches, or when we need someone to unlock a stubborn parked bus. Could learn many a lesson off Routs.

The only thing anyone can learn off Routs is how to prolong your career at a club well past the useful stage.

Have to ay that's fair comment. God knows Ive given Routledge some stick over the years but he's a great pro but dear God, we really should have better options.Ive still not worked out how he got a four year extended contract so credit to the man as he can teach the kids much about looking after yourself.

Can understand people having a go at Grimes for slowing down possession at times, but he doesn't half get some unwarranted stick on here imo.

He was everywhere second half, if I was cooper I wouldn't be playing another holding midfielder next to him, or a flat three, he would sit on his own with Fulton and Palmer/Smith infront until Gibbs White comes back.

Grimes is without doubt one our best players. Those that give him stick may not see the bigger picture.

In addition to his outstanding reading of the game, anticipatory interceptions and cover tackling - with fierce tenacity, measured calmness and control (which sometimes does slow the game down but overall it's about us regaining momentum), off-the scale fitness and commitment, a wand of a left peg and a bloody good bloke.

His stats are exemplary. No wonder he's been our recent managers' favourite.

With grimes playing as a defensive midfielder it gives the likes of as you say fulton, palmer and mgw the licence to push further up field to support lowe and ayew.

Leon did similar though did he not?

Don’t get me wrong I’m not comparing him in quality terms with Leon, but like the little legend did, he can take the ball off our defenders, make tackles, snuff out moves with his positional sense hence his interception success.

Leon moved the ball a shitload faster and with more purpose than Grimes does.

That's the major problem. It's not what Grimes does. It's the time he takes to do it. There's no urgency about his time on the ball, and that bogs the team down. If he went about his business with more purpose then he'd probably find himself with more creative options.

If the best people can say about our primary ball player is that he's good defensively then that tells its own story.

lol, he was a fierce tackler but funnily often last-minute lunges when someone a lot bigger and faster was getting away from him if his impeccable timing was out by a nanosecond. Gave away loads of free-kicks.

(one of the best-ever Swans players imo btw)
