Russia invade Ukraine 14:17 - Dec 23 with 204681 viewsFlynnidine_Zidownes

Discuss.

Also why is Putin always described in the media as this rugged strongman? He’s barely five foot tall with his high heels on.

But that’s another debate.

The trouble is with the Russian army stalled and taking heavy losses Putin has resorted to deliberately attacking civil targets with artillery, rockets and cruise missles.

it's making slow progress ...to the kill zone near Kyiv where Ukrainian counter batteries and BayraktarTB2's will go to work with ruthless efficiency.

The whole Biden family is compromised by Russian, Ukrainian and Chinese money. As are most of the main polician's families.
And Kilkennyjack thinks Johnson is dirty, he obviously only looks at what is going on with the Tories.

I think this speaks for many.

We all remember his heroes Leanne wood and Jeremy Corbyn falling over themselves to deflect blame from Russia when they used a nerve agent to murder people in our own streets.

We know where these peoples loyalties lie. It’s not with this country or it’s people.

Jezza has never been a hero.
That tw@@t delivered both Brexit and Johnson.

Leanne is still cool though. 😎

But Jezza was a seven out of ten remainer who campaigned an election to renegotiate Johnson’s deal and then campaign against his own deal in another referendum. This was backed by Keir starmer who was shadow brexit minister. I saw them on the telly.

They have truly come unstuck and if the Russians Afghanistan was tough, facing an insurgency with professional fully trained soldiers is going to be even worse.

Armed to the teeth:
Sweden: 5,000 AT4 anti-tank weapons,
Denmark: 2,700 anti-tank weapons,
Norway: 2,000 anti-tank weapons
United Kingdom: 2,000 NLAW short-range anti-tank missiles
Finland: 1,500 single-shot anti-tank weapons
Germany: 1,000 anti-tank weapons
Netherlands: 400 rocket-propelled grenade launchers
Belgium: 200 anti-tank weapons
Estonia: Unspecified number of Javelin anti-tank missiles.

This makes a total of some 14,800 weapons, on top of Ukraine’s existing equipment. Add to that high grade military explosives to make devastation bombs/IED's seen in Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan etc. A posting into absolute hell!

The Ukranian insurgents will also need somewhere else to go to rest and recover. The VC could nip into Laos and Cambodia. The Mujahideen used Pakistan. The IRA just went South. The ANC used to rest up in Namibia or Botswana.

The reaction to Romania, Poland etc to being used as staging posts could be something to watch.

You are indeed correct.

A U.S general pointed out on CNN this week that the Ukrainian border area is way too expansive and porous for an occupying army to stop every movement of all munitions, supplies and personnel. He also mentioned that U.S military has been involved with training the Ukrainian military for many years.

And undoubtedly preparation for a Russian invasion has been been planned for well in advance with dug-in arms/supplies dumps already hidden along with insurgency/military strategy/tactics.

If you don’t think that’s relevant then open your eyes. You need to balance your views somewhat.

My eyes are wide open thank you , I'm not sure what you mean by taking a balanced view , perhaps you could explain why innocent civilians are being deliberately targeted by Russian missile & artillery sites ? as if their somehow at fault for this carnage.

I will disagree with you is that not all like all other nationalities are its citizens lacking in human decency, many have been brought up on tales of Russia's history especially its second world war history , similar to our older generation "the Blitz spirit etc,. I believe the older Russian generation are more inclined to watch and listen to the state broadcaster as opposed to the younger generation who use social media for their information so when they're told their under threat that's what they believe ( not all as we've seen from the images but enough to have an influence on Putins desire to smash Ukraine and others whom he perceives to be a threat .Hopefully the sound of dissention within will grow louder and with it a realisation that Putin cannot win

On a sort of related note, can this be the last we hear of the tedious whining about Trident replacement? Ask the Ukrainians if they regret giving up the nukes they had when the USSR collapsed.

Kilks has spent the entire pandemic claiming that lives are more valuable than money, yet when presented with something that has been a clear deterrent to large scale war and the associated death and destruction apparently it's too expensive.

Always a bit confused is Kilks.

The Oligarchs were already here, the refugees will only just have started arriving and we are bringing in sanctions against the Russians too.

You are consistent though, wrong and boring, but consistent.

Yet those self same nukes are the reason the West cannot help Ukraine as we'd like. The Russian nukes deterring us.

I'm all for cutting back on Trident but taking part in a NATO joint deterrent, after all, how many nukes does this planet need?

Then we could spend the money saved on things like helping refugees, the NHS, schools, saving lives instead of preparing to destroy us all.

I'm no fan of these things, it would be some moment if all countries gave them up but as we're seeing on the news this very morning, what governments say they do to what they actually do is not consistent.

If we gave them all up today and make them magically disappear we'd still not help Ukraine. Even the idea of imposing a no fly zone would trigger a world war instantly regardless of nukes
