Russia invade Ukraine 14:17 - Dec 23 with 204694 viewsFlynnidine_Zidownes

Discuss.

Also why is Putin always described in the media as this rugged strongman? He’s barely five foot tall with his high heels on.

But that’s another debate.

Apparently the vikings established Swansea as a port, what should we do if they want it back?

I suppose if there was a 61% Norse speaking majority in Sweigns Eye borough that are tired of the oppressive British minority who pour scorn on their colourful costumes and Elk related activity it’s always going to be a possibility…..

Do yourself a favour, brain yourself with whatever device you are using then Chuck it out of the window. It’s doing you no favours at all.

There's no doubt he wanted Kyiv too, but their losses were too heavy. Officially they switched to wanting to take the East and then cut Ukraine off from the black sea (which unofficially Russian generals said would cause Ukraine to collapse as a country). Then you have Medvedev talking about Ukraine maybe not existing in two years and of course the psychopaths on state controlled Russian TV spouting their hate about Ukraine and its illegitimacy as a country each night. All of it is/should be indefensible to a person with any morals at all.

As should be the wars in Iraq, Afghanistan and many other places. I remember many thousands repeatedly demonstrating against the Iraq war as they like me and many others disagreed with the premise and everyone was right. Half a million dead just so the USA could procure arms from the military industrial complex . Many in the U.S. government even today hold shares in these companies and so see share dividends when war kicks off and their in a position to give those wars (or military support) the go ahead.

If that is not “morally” corrupt and a conflict of interests then I don’t know what is. The U.S. had senators and congressmen(I’ve seen it on film) goading the Ukrainians on since the U.S. inspired Euromaidan insurgency in 2014.

And Ukraine will be in massive debt to these arms companies for probably over a century. That’s the “moral” aim of this conflict by the wonderful Federal Reserve and Raytheon, General Dynamic , Lockheed Martin etc etc .

After the second Iraq war Halliburton (run by Dick Cheney who in the excerpt I’m attaching from American commentators) took billions from Iraqi coffers to rebuild the very infrastructure the U.S. military destroyed thanks to the agitations and outright lies coming out of the very same Dick Cheney’s mouth. He personally made at least 44 million dollars out of the war - probably more through other contacts. They were even supplying Saddam in conjunction with the oil for food (sounds fair) programme .

If you can’t see the parallels your either blindfolded or you just don’t want to look. The Americans couldn’t care less about these poor people - they’re only interested in money and their rapidly decreasing superpower status.

https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2011/08/remembering-why-americans-l

There should be no war in Ukraine, the Minsk accords should have been abided by until a proper political solution could be found. Not really what the Americans wanted though and now we can see why. Money!

I hate Putin because he's killed innocent people. Completely innocent people and on a massive and ongoing scale. I'd hate anyone for doing the same.

I think you're getting my views on the US confused with other people.

By condoning the actions of Putin you're condoning the past actions of the US.

You’re talking about the people in Donbas yes??? The ones being shelled almost continuously since 2014? The 15,000? He definitely didn’t kill those people that was the Ukrainian army shelling a Russian majority segment of Ukraine.

You can’t blame him for that.

If their logic on Ukraine is anything to go by they'd be calling on the government to wave the white flag. Of course, in reality they wouldn't because when it's actually your home and not someone elses...

I know quite a lot of Ukrainians. They detest Putin with a passion. For a long time they've wished he was dead. And yes I'm talking about ones from the East too.

I knew one who sadly passed away in the early 2000s. He fought with the Nazis in the war against the Soviet Union so yes they have a massive and ingrained hatred of Moscow- even though a Georgian was in charge when his farming policy starved millions of them to death. Horrible and needless Joe Stalin was in many ways worse than Hitler

And let’s just forget that apart from a handful (optimistically) of ancient Norse speakers remaining out of a total urban population of nigh on 200,000 they left a thousand or so years ago when the Normans came in. Not quite as close as 1954 is it ?

Ridiculous comparison

I'm talking about every Ukrainian in every area.

You seem to think some innocent people dying at the hands of Putin is acceptable. I don't.

Trying to post that 7 died in Lviv (7 too many) and 900 in Kiev (all executed by the Russian army) .
The execution narrative I can’t believe because it means no Kiev citizens died of shelling or crossfire they were executed somehow in an orderly fashion whilst vicious firefights were being fought. The same source told Felix that 30000 Russian soldiers had died (Ukraina Pravda).

As for Mariupol we won’t know for some time but like I said before there were plenty of chances to avoid conflict but all were ignored and when the Ukrainian army had plans to amass on the outside of Donbas in the weeks leading up to the 24th of February the Russians felt they had no option BUT to intervene. Putin might be the worst human alive, he might not be but he did what he felt he had to.

Brynmill Jack, I genuinely have no idea what your last posts to me mean/are referring to.

Your efforts to attempt to cast doubt on killings by Russian soldiers and excuses/apologism for Putin is disgraceful though. Very clear that there were executions by Russian soldiers around Kyiv. Another mass grave was identified just last week and we have video footage of some of them being led away and two being casually shot in the back as they walked away. As for Mariupol...as I said to scumbag propagandist Eva Bartlett, Russia totally destroyed that city. The aerial footage says it all. If anyone thinks that mass death wasn't caused there (tens of thousands) then they're simply living on another planet. Mass graves there aren't just a possibility, they were/are a necessity.

This simple fact is that Russia invaded in 2014 and then again fully in 2022. There was, is, and never will be any moral justification for these military invasions of an independent country. No amount of spin or 'buts' changes this. Russia could end this war today (and all killing) if its war crime commiting soldiers f*cked off out of Ukraine.

No I didn’t. I just asked what’s more likely - civilians being executed by a shot to the head during one of the most intense battles of the conflict or being hit by being caught in the crossfire or shelled. You want to try reading what’s written because I also said that 900 is 900 too many .

You and your buddies delight in portraying a small minority of us as basking in bloodshed or some other shite. We hold different opinions to you on the causes of this conflict that’s all.

Meanwhile Donetsk goes under bombardment for another day and nobody says boo bah. So don’t accuse us of celebrating in the death of Ukrainians when the citizens of Donetsk are under a bombardment which will be classed as a war crime by the Ukrainian army.

The ethnic Russian speaking majorities of the two regions declared independence and Ukraine shelled them. That’s not the same as the Russians invading Donbas , because they’d already lived there for centuries. A long time before Ukraine came into being.

Try researching stuff if you don’t know it.

Your 'just having a different opinion' is like people 'just having a different opinion' about Nazi Germany during WW2 and the horrors that they caused. It's simply wrong. What you're doing is spreading Kremlin propaganda for free. Putin pays people to do this (huge troll factories) and you do it for free.

You know Russia has committed horrific war crimes. I've just mentioned the mass graves, the events caught on camera, the thousands of reports from witnesses...we have the intercepted calls of soldiers telling their families and partners how they torture and rape too. We have the scenes of absolute destruction of Mariupol from the air and the satellite images of the necessary mass graves. To deny it is simply to do Russia's propaganda for them. It is exactly what that war criminal Peskov did in his Sky News interview a while back. Even when shown all the evidence of Z marked tanks on a street where civilians were shot dead on bikes he denied it.

As for Donestk...have you actually been to Ukraine and spent time there? How many people do you know there? Are you getting your knowledge from Kremlin propaganda videos like Patrick Lancaster, Eva Bartlett and wanted war criminal Graham Phillips? As already mentioned, I dated a girl from Donbass and she was was very clear that it was the Russians who invaded and smashed up her parents home with their weapons. I.e. it wasn't even a topic of conversation as to 'who did it'. Russia invaded Crimea in 2014 and the 'Russian backed separatists' did their dirty work in other parts. In August 2014 Russian military moved in. You talk about Ukraine shelling Donbass....15,000 dead... again...this is the Kremlin line. Around 14,000 died. Largely military personnel and that number includes on both sides. NONE of this would have happened without Russia's invasion in 2014 just like NONE of the mass death we see now would have happened had Russia not invaded again in February of this year. As a BBC interviewer said to war criminal Lavrov recently, there were barely a handful of civilian deaths in the last two years before Russia's full scale invasion in 2022. Then there were tens of thousands. These are again just facts which cannot be denied, even though the Kremlin will do their best to deny them anyway.

What? Are you a child? You deliberately ignored what was written but will carry on spreading Kremlin propaganda and denying clear war crimes anyway? You're now denying the existence of the mass graves discovered around Kyiv and other liberated areas or that they literally have to exist in destroyed Mariupol? What source exactly would suffice for you? I presume that Ukraine reporting it wouldn't be reliable in your eyes? clown.

The Kyiv metropolitan area virtually borders Belarus. They definitely got that far. Kyiv to the Belarus border is around the same distance as Swansea is to Bristol or Bath. 90 miles or so.

My friends in Kyiv (female) left for Poland specifically because Russian soldiers were getting dangerously close. The fear at the time being that they might have been cut off/unable to get out (like the people in Mariupol) if Russia came much closer to the main train line. I can't believe that anyone is denying Russian soldiers were in the surrounding area now. Bucha, Irpin..neither far from Kyiv. When one of my friends was leaving she messaged to say that she was at the train station and then turned off her phone to save battery. Minutes later the news reported there was a huge explosion at Kyiv train station and it was likely that a cruise missile had hit. Fortunately that missile had actually been downed by air defences and the remains of it just hit the building next door setting it on fire. For around two hours I feared that my friend was dead until I saw that she had logged onto Facebook messenger and later she messaged to say the train was delayed because *rocket emoji*. It infuriates me when people who have no idea of what Russia has done talk as if they do based on Kremlin BS they've seen online. Or, actually worse, when they know very well what Russia have done but try to be edgy because its the latest anti-West conspiracy.

I don’t know very well what “they’ve done”, period. If after all this conclusive evidence is presented I’ll condemn each of the purported participants and hope they go to jail for a very long time. Also their commanders and their government, including Putin.

Good article. However the Russians have been using UAVs to identify targets from the start so that part of their report is incorrect. The Russian line is that civilian housing blocks as well as hospitals, schools were used as defensive positions by the AFU. There was video footage of on armoured vehicle dotted by a drone in a hospital courtyard which Russian artillery then destroyed.

No one knows for certain if their account is true or the reverse. I know what most are thinking though and that's up to you.

The exact same thing can be said with regards the Ukrainian shelling of Donbas over the last 8 years which most commenting on this thread give either tacit or open approval of Donetsk this past week - hundreds of shells a day are landing in civilian populated areas. They hit a market in town yesterday 5 are dead.

Nobody is whiter than white in this conflict. That's war. And I do wish it would stop.
