The fact their ships are a 100 miles away is neither here or there. If the island forms part of their territory they get to extend their territorial waters. Have a look at a map of British territorial waters and look at the effect the Shetland Islands has on our waters. |

Why do the Russians want Snake Island, I cannot give a definitive answer but the mere fact that they tried so hard to take it proves that they do. Maybe it's PR or maybe they're worried that more Neptune or even AA missiles would be launched from there?
AA it could be seeing as they are launching mor and more missiles at civilian areas ( a shopping centre today) from outside Ukraine airspace. They are afraid to fly over Ukraine itself because of the short range AA missiles the world has provided to defend Ukraines sovereign territory. | |

There's a possibility it was a Ukrainian air defence missile that missed it's target and fell to ground.Has it been stated what kind of missile it was and from what direction?If it was a cruise missile it would have leveled the entire complex as they carry 500kg of high explosive. I've explained this too you numerous times. It takes approx 1 soldier to every 40 inhabitant to take over and occupy a city. The Kyev area, has a population of about 3 million. Therefore, Russia would have had to send 75k troops at minimum do do this. They sent about 30k, and tied down 100k Ukrainian defenders. After this had been accomplished, They then withdrew in orderly fashion to go elsewhere

They did not withdraw in an orderly manner they were in full retreat are their forces suffered disastrous losses particularly their tanks and armoured vehicles. They committed many crimes including the murder of civilians and expecting male adults including POWs.
