Williams is fully engaged in transfers. 19:12 - Dec 12 with 1549 views | ReslovenSwan1 | Luke Williams gave a very assured press conference today. Amongst the obligatory love ins for Grimes and Cullen he a made some good noises on the January transfer window. This window has seen the last three managers go into a sulk and start questioning what they are doing in this city. Potter called off sick after not getting £7m Ryan Woods. Cooper was openly dismissive of Arriola and Morris. Martin was furious after the January non event and the non completion of the WBA winger. Williams says he is involved and "does not want to be the type of manager who throws his toys out of the pram" if things do not go entirely to plan". It should be noted the recruitment knows he will not select player he does not rate. (Njoe an On, Kuharevych Abbey and to s lesser extent Pederson).

Williams is fully engaged in transfers. on 20:51 - Dec 12 with 1433 views | jack247 | He already proved he’s not in the Summer. Can you imagine how the other three would have reacted if they’d had to start the season with two senior centre backs and an incredibly raw centre forward who hadn’t yet learned English? Williams just cracked on with the cards he was dealt. Let’s hope he gets a bit more support now we have new owners.

I am not sure of your logic. Pedersen was a reserve CB h but is always injured. Abbey is a good prospect but had a nightmare debut. Why do you say he was definitely not involved in these decisions? This smacks of the forum logic when the manager is always right. Swansea backed Martin on Fisher and Sorinola. One of Cooper's permanent signing was Peterson who he froze out.

Abbey wasn’t here at the start of the season and he’s not a good prospect, he’s played less than 30 times in 5 seasons. You’ve answered your own point re. Pedersen. Maybe I should have phrased it ‘two centre backs who are ever available’ for your benefit. I’m confident everyone else would have understood. The fact he played Cyrus Christie there when Darling went off speaks for itself. He isn’t always right, but my point is in this instance. You just don’t like it because it quite correctly paints Levein and Kaplan in a bad light. Edit - as a point of order I didn’t say he definitely wasn’t involved in those decisions - you made that up, but can you really imagine any manager wanting to start a season with two fit centre backs and Cullen and Vipotnik as his only striking options? Overall point I’m making is that if he was one of those managers to complain about the quality of his squad (like his predecessors) he would have done so already. [Post edited 13 Dec 0:48]

Williams says he is fully engaged in the transfer business. I believe him you do not. He has effectively removed all excuses for future results which I like to see. Cooper and Martin in particular played this game. There are budgetary controls at Swansea city. It is what managers signed up for.

I saw the press conference. He implied he’s got more say in transfer business now than he’s had in the past. Maybe it was a bit subtle for you. I fully believe him. I don’t know why you think I don’t. Again, please stop making things up. The rest of your post I completely agree with and it’s what I’ve said above. If he was the type to moan about transfer windows, which Cooper and Martin undoubtedly, though justifiably were, we’d have seen it in the summer. That’s what I’ve said above. Which part do you disagree with? The summer window being abysmal or Williams not moaning about it?

He is using the WE word. It is not subtle at all and it is not "making stuff up" which is a nasty bit of spin. "WE are working on transfers". *WE are looking at players". "WE are working on Cabango and Darling". etc. Martin used the " this was a decision by the Ownership group".(Whittaker returning).

When he stays stop making things up he is referring to your claim that you believe Williams but he does not. It appears that part is not true and therefore "made up" which also means it's not a nasty bit of sping but the plain and simple truth. Happy to clarify for you. Disclaimer, I do NOT know who jack247 is, where he is from or even if he is actually a he. I have never met him, spoken with him or otherwise communicated with him besides excchanging views on this forum.

Aside from you misunderstanding which but you were making up, we’re saying more or less the same thing. There was open discord between the previous regime and the three managers you have mentioned. The relationship between Williams and the Coleman group seems far more harmonious. Williams however, didn’t complain when he had what in my opinion was our worst transfer window since the Potter season. I completely believe what he says, as if he was the type to moan about being let down in that area, he would have done so in the summer. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Swansea have a new methodology which is buying potential and 20-23 year olds. These players are slow burners who will need time to develop. Franco, Eom, Vipotnik etc.. Vigoreux has been good. Remember Cooper threw away a promising 21 year old in Gyorkeres who has turned from struggling player unable to cut in the Championship to a superstar. You comment stated it was "proven" that Williams was not fully involved in the Summer window. His comments suggest he was entirely happy with his level of involvement. To suggest you do not believe him is not "making stuff up". [Post edited 13 Dec 22:52]

You’ve taken ‘he’s proved he’s not in the summer’ and applied the part about it being involved in the summer yourself. What it actually refers to is the fact he proved he’s not the type of manager to throw his toys out the pram in the summer. You made the bit about not being involved in transfers up. I don’t know if he was involved in the summer or not. It’s quite plausible he was told he could have Eom and Franco but it was contingent on getting Yates and Kykharevych off the books. From memory, I think Keith said something along those lines. I very much doubt he’d have been happy with not bringing a capable striker in but that’s just my opinion. Signing young players with potential isn’t a new methodology. Over the last few years, Darling, Whittaker, Downes, Piroe, Key off the top of my head would have fitted that description. Vipotnik isn’t a bad signing per se. I actually think he has quite a high ceiling. The difference is we’ve never signed a striker who is nowhere near first team ready and thrown him straight in at the deep end before.

Coleman presented the revised recruitment model as a revolutionary step change. This followed on from the Martin era and the infamous Connor Roberts frisbee post with the young fellow doing his best. Extra scouts, Watson appointed, and international signings. We heard this before with Andy Scott admittedly. Watson has moved on of course. Swansea have to operate this way. Buy young cheap and develop the youngsters.

Players out to get players in was the mantra mate.
