Strikers in the Sport Republic reign 08:30 - Mar 24 with 1104 views | MattFinish | With the news of yet another Ross Stewart injury setback I thought I’d put together a list of Saints strikers bought by SR: 1. Sekou Mara cost £10.2, paid £2.6m (£1.3m pa for 2yrs) scored 4 2. Paul Onuachu cost £18m, paid £3m (£1.5m pa for 2yrs) scored 3 3. Ross Stewart cost £10m, paid £2.1m (£1.04m Pa for 2yrs) scored 0 4. Cameron Archer cost £17m, paid £2m for 1yr scored 2 5. Ben Brereton-Diaz cost £7m paid £1.82m for 1 year scored 0 So in the 2.5 years Sport Republic have been here they’ve bought 5 strikers at the cost including wages of £73.72m with a goal return of 9 goals These are possibly the most incompetent owners in the history of football

Strikers in the Sport Republic reign on 12:23 - Mar 24 with 900 views | SaintNick | I wouldn't put the blame completely on the players themselves. 1. Sekou Mara started only 8 games for the club, but played another 42 as a sub, he was never going to be a regular starter, but for £10 million a good back up player 2. Paul Onuachu, now I'm no fan of Tall Paul but he was a victim of circumstance, signed by Jones who was going to play to his strengths and then had Selles & Martin who weren't' under Juric he has found the net,as it suits his game more, as he has been on loan for one of his years here, we have probably recouped his wages for that year plus a small loan fee. 3. Ross Stewart, has been a gamble gone wrong, he recovered from his injury and then got a different one, possibly due to playing too early 4.Cameron Archer has again been ignored at times by both Martin & Juric, started only 11 games, plus 15 as sub could still come good next season. 5. Ben Brereton Diaz, showed at both Sheffield United the first time and now on loan that he can score in a team formation that suits him, Martin didn't rate him and started him just 4 times in the League and only 6 sub appearances, Juric didn't play him at all, I don't think he will come back here next season, but if he did he could be a potent forward alongside Archer

Archer & Brereton Diaz will and can score goals in The Championship. Just not The Premier League.

When Saints got promoted in 1978, Mike Pickering at the back was a rock in defence alongside Chris Nicholl and Tony Funnell came in late and scored vital goals , both only played 2 games each in the top flight, before being sold on

If we were re-offered the chance to sign Mara in the summer for £10 million, would you sign him???

I probably wouldn't, but he played his part in our Promotion season and was a good back up. Yes you will mention Hull City, which is ironic as when I mention Broja and his 6 goals, you always tell me it was his hard work off the ball that made him a good player So no I wouldn't sign Mara now, but I think under the right manager, these 5 players might have been looked at a little bit differently

So who would you sign out of Broja, Mara, or Adam Armstrong based on playing for us?

Strikers in the Sport Republic reign on 13:35 - Mar 25 with 514 views | TimSaint | MattFinish - I take it you are only taking League Goals into account for your calculations ? Mara (although awful) may have a vastly improved 'rate' with his additional 4 cup goals !! 1 goal in 21 League appearances this season, suggests we did very well to get that sort of price for him - however a further 2 goals from 2 cup appearances this season, shows Strasbourg got themselves a bargain !! :-)

Though I guess you can understand his frustration when he sees that lump Onuachu getting in the team ahead of him….

I really don't mind Onuachu, for me he's the best of a bad bunch . He generally holds up the ball quite well and can bring others into play. I'd be tempted to give Archer a go out on the right instead of Dibling. Archer has looked

Meant to add that Archer has looked terrible as a main striker as he can't hold up the ball and gets manhandled way too easily , his first touch isn't great either. Definitely worth a punt in the wide attacking role and cutting inside could bear fruit for him...either as a replacement for Dibling or Sulemana.

Sulemana has looked more interested than Dibling. And I’d never thought I’d say that about the useless kunt.

Dibling is likely going to be far better than the rest of our attackers, just think he's gone a bit stale and needs a bit of bench time.
