Tomorrow Is the 25th anniversary of Ian Drury's Death. on 06:52 - Mar 27 with 774 views | londonscottish | Saw him live at the Kentish Town Forum in the early 90s. Was blown away by just how good the Blockheads were. Phenomenal band, amazing live. I later found out that Trevor Horn often called them in to Sarm Studios as session musicians. Still listen to them to this day. I use Hit Me With Your Rythm Stick as a reference track every time I get a new set of headphones.

I used to go to the Kensington Sunday lunchtimes - Watney's beer though, ugh. A bloke knocked my pint over one day. I said “what a waste, but I don't mind”

I watched this last weekend & really enjoyed the documentary. Like Punk, I could take or leave The Blockheads at the time, but I've come to really appreciate them. They were all very different to the musical heros of my earlier days - Paul Simon, Bob Dylan, Ray Davies, Carly Simon, Carol King (not when co writing with Gerry Goffin!) I've realised that there are many genres of music (even if I can't recognise the genre) that I can enjoy.

Ooh cheers I'll take a look at that. Even as a very young kid going around in my mum's car with the radio locked on Capital (back when it was good) I remember hearing Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick and it was like nothing else, I was mesmerised by it. Still one of my favourite tunes.
