Looks like the hike in Capital Gains Tax on the last Budget has backfired.

What do you expect with amateurs running the country. Let's be honest if you owned a national company, would you employ any of the cabinet ministers to run it.

It's not just politicians, a lot of the very high earners, the CEO's etc, they do a shite job and when found out get a golden goodbye and replaced by someone from the CEO merry-go-round who is just as bad or worse. This is why councils, utilities and even Asda (who Allan Leighton says are in trouble) are so poor, they keep giving top jobs to people who are not good enough.

In politics we see ministers sacked for being poor but then given a job in a different department, usually they have no experience of their role in any way and they fail again. Would government departments be better off if the people put in charge had actual experience in the area they rule over? Too many of our politicians these days, the newer ones especially, they are career politicians. Often enough they are from a family like the Kinnocks and they know nothing outside the politicial bubble. It's the road to ruin.

The maddest thing about this is that people are surprised.

For decades the evidence has existed to demonstrate that punitive tax rates are counter productive. Unless you're a complete moron (and in fairness, most Socialists are), it's irrefutable at this point.

Encourage and allow people to keep more of their own money, and they will usually decide to pay sensible tax rates. There will be the odd outlier of course, but most will decide that it's not worth the hassle.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

This country has had it's best times under higher tax regimes. Many countries with higher tax rates are doing better than us too

I am with advice from others better than me reconsidering the incoming Inheritent Tax levy which my children will lose out on my hard earned gained over my working life .

Now my savings will be used asap before the deadlines and tax rules will be introduced . My savings spent in the right areas deemed by my family needs .

Anybody know of a decent mattress company or loft conversion firm .

Our best times were in the 90s with our low taxation rate which meant people actually had an incentive to work and keep more of their own money. We were actually paying off the Nation debt as tax revenues exceed government spending.

Now unfortunately some people on benefits are earning more than people who actually work.
