Continuing our tour of the World - Spain and all things Spanish. I'm starting with perhaps the most middle-class song of my lifetime. I've never been to a dinner party in my life but for a decade this was the soundtrack to the ones I managed to avoid.

Me too, first discovered him off of MK's album circa 2001, which I have along with Yungun's only album. heaven knows where they are! He was one of the YNR records graduands which produced so much great stuff
I think he appeared on one of Louis Slipperz 10 pound bag mixtapes didn't he? Some one gave me that cd in about 2001, which got me into Jehst, Taskforce et al and I never looked back 😎
Edit here it is, superb

I bought the very same, the original £10 bag mixtape is a must, I think came out circa 1999/ 2000. During lockdown, I was casually walking in Camden in the sunshine with my taskforce tshirt on and some fella in a pub window (that weird, you could but wth table service time) started banging the window and muttering something at me. It was only Chester P! Been mates ever since!

Shut up!
I'm a _huge_ fan of his. I saw him at Tramlines festival around 2010ish I'd say, went up to him and told him he's a legend etc etc , you know, dead casual like... Watched his Chester P For Mayor documentary only this week in which he makes a point of saying how irritating he finds it when drunk blokes do that. I mean he doesn't mention me by name but still...
I'm legit impressed by this though. Call him a legend from me 😂. Seems a seriously decent bloke by all accounts

Very nice bloke and unbelievably intelligent. I think i have a knack for these things as about 15 years ago Skinnyman lived in a camper van in the Sobell Centre car park on Hornsey Road, didn't realise at first until I read that the graffiti in the van said Skinnyman. Was walking past one day and sure enough there he was smoking something outside, so my chance encounter with Chester completed my Mud Fam/ Bury Crew or Mudbury if you will experience.

@BrianMcCarthy's 'I'm starting with perhaps the most middle-class song of my lifetime. I've never been to a dinner party in my life but for a decade this was the soundtrack to the ones I managed to avoid.'
Associations! It's very unfortunate that a piece of music can be weighed down by associations. In my case that Buena Vista Social Club album doesn't really have any of those associations as at the time I was in with the Latin/Salsa tribes of London (and also not invited to any dinner parties).
Anyone noticed that there is very little on this thread that's from Spain itself rather than Latin America? It seems Spain has not produced anything very memorable for some reason.
