Lineker speaks on 13:38 - Apr 25 by Banosswan | Oh shush you pleb, we're not innocent by virtue of being Welsh. Where did I say he should name every one? I'm just saying it's nowhere near the worst during his lifetime, if you keep going on about the English led state being complicit in Gaza, look at how we supported idi Amin. That was much worse |
Correct we are not innocent by virtue of being Welsh but if we had a Welsh led UK government we would not have made the same decisions as an English led UK government do in many instances, the big example I can think of where for once the weight of numbers of English mps failed to carry the day was when Welsh, Irish and Scottish mps virtually to a man and woman opposed our armed forces being on the ground in Syria, English mps voted for all out war but for once because the Celtic mps vote was so strong our 'mp's' won the day and what with weapons of mass destruction basically being a myth that turned out to be a good thing. I would expect Celtic mp's to be more understanding and sympathetic on the world stage when it comes to conflicts whereas English mp's would be more likely to back the big imperial powers, its could all be to do with being products of our environments. Lineker speaks on 09:37 - Apr 25 by trampie | Lineker was a boy when Pol Pot was in his heyday and doing his thing, basically not old enough to even vote, limited coverage in the press, little or no satellite or internet for schoolboy master Lineker at that time i would have thought. Seems like supporters of the murdering regime in Israel are trying to discredit Lineker by saying he's thick and now by saying he is discounting other atrocities, oh well it's what they do I suppose. You will find he was 18 when the Pol Pot regime came to an end and the scale of death was uncovered. If I was looking for an expert in international affairs I think I would discount a football commentator, call me old fashioned. He's opportunistic, just after he starts a podcast company he starts posting controversial stuff and providing links to his podcasts. I have no axe to grind in the Middle East and the situation in Yemen is 10 times worse than in Gaza, but who cares? [Post edited 25 Apr 17:04]

You have no axe to grind you say, I thought you have previously said on here that you had lived and worked on a kibbutz in Israel ?

Lineker speaks on 17:48 - Apr 25 with 724 views | trampie | As regards nobody cares about Yemen I have posted about Merthyr fans complaining to their club about one of their sponsors on here at the time the story broke. So it looks like I care enough to post and some Merthyr fans care enough to complain, whether people in Swansea, Cardiff or other cities care is another thing mind, city mentality and all that.

Yes, alongside Israelis, Arabs, Europeans and South Americans we all got on well. I used to help take fruit to the market in Gaza, we had an illicit beer or two in the back of a cafe there and we'd fill the truck with people on the way back of all persuasions. The border was one guard in a hut who used to disappear in the afternoon. I didn't have an issue with to he people of Israel of Gaza then or do I now. The politicians and extremists on both sides fcuk things up for ordinary people .

Guy is a very good footballer and a decent presenter on MOTD , but getting involved with the very hot topic of immigration , maybe the Beeb as a neutral broadcaster dumped him . Other broadcasters are available for comment on their neutrality of course .

Turning into another media luvvie , stick to football mun and Sky or other outlets will give you a decent new contract . Footballers and Politics , just why do they get involved , so out of their depth but the I am doing something positive attitude is lapped up by followers and clicks . Wonder if Mr. Lineker has ventured into the war zone and chaos of Palestine to air his views. Maybe the Parlour of his luxury mansion is much more cosy . [Post edited 28 Apr 0:40]

I grew up a Welsh Baptist, but you you want to know if I am Jewish? You'd best not answer. Many people from across the World of all faiths and nationalities worked as volunteers on a Kibbutz in the past, I went because a school friend had been. I worked with people who had much stronger reasons to go, for example a lady called Paola from Italy went every year for a month. Her parents were killed in front of her during World War 2 by Mussolini's men, they were looking for someone else and mistook her parents, she went to the Kibbutz to be with people who understood her. She was one of the funniest people I've met in my life. [Post edited 28 Apr 9:11]

Hard to recall now the interest that the Kibbutz movement had for many young people in the mid-20th century as a model that combined elements of community solidarity, collectivism, and cooperative principles. If it had developed somewhere other than Israel, Trumpie would probably have been an enthusiast. Many of the young people murdered at the Nova music festival probably held progressive, socialistic views that owed a lot to the idea of the Kibbutz.

How much did it cost for you to go ?, can disadvantaged young people with poor parents or no parents afford to go ?, is there a cost involved for youngsters/their families ?
