Anyone on here do the marathon yesterday? 05:06 - Apr 28 with 971 viewsnix

Wondering as I saw someone running pretty sharpish in a QPR shirt at Canary Wharf (18 mile point). Yelled out you Rs when I realised but he'd already bombed past.

What a great day out. Brilliantly well organised. Lots of helpful stewards. Thousands of runners raising millions for a lot of amazing charities. Clearing up promptly. No-one moaning and the trains running. Reminded me of the Olympics. The best of London.

I managed a couple of crunchies.Does that count?
I volunteered to be a marshal at the London marathon a few years ago,and it was a great experience. They asked me to do it again this year, but I couldn’t do it this time. The crowds do sometimes get a bit much, with everyone trying to get as close to the roads as possible to take photos, and shake hands with the runners. Its ok in the parts with barriers, but not much fun in the places where there aren’t any.
It’s a great day though and well worth getting involved in.Well done to everyone who completed the course yesterday though.

My eldest Lad has ran Five London marathons, one of them he got a time of 2.59, he ran one of the marathons with his Mum and she has run Two London's, her best time In 2005 was 04;43;21 Her Ladies finishing position in 2005 was 4957 out of 10,464 Ladies.

My other Lad flew to New York, pre booked the hotel in advance but when he arrived the hotel on the Friday night It was shut, he spent ages going around In a New York rickshaw trying to find a hotel that wasn't fully booked he eventually had to pay for an apartment for the weekend, he still ran the bloody thing though. He also ran a Marathon on an Island of the East coast of America, It took three flights to get there and when he did get there all of his luggage had gone missing, he still managed to complete the marathon. I'm gonna see him later this morning and ask him what was the name of the Island, There are only a limited number of runners from around the World for that marathon.

The training for Months before the marathon Is brutal, you gotta be dedicated.

The London marathon Is a great day out though shooting here there and everywhere on the trains trying to keep up with family members who are running.

My Missus and my Two Lads done me proud.

My Father had a profound influence on me, he was a lunatic.

Wow, 2.59 is a great time. We were tracking two runners doing it on behalf of Princess Alice Hospice who were wonderful with a family member and one did it in three hours 15 minutes and that seemed like he was bombing along on the tracker.

Coming in the top in the ladies' race is also impressive.

There's now six world marathons, and although I haven't and won't run Tokyo, the LM was hands down the best of the five I ran.

London turns out en masse from the off to the end, and the support carries you all the way. As said above: London at her very, very best!!

Would echo this. I ran London (many) years ago and the crowds - particularly at Tower Bridge - lift you off your feet. The good thing about the course is that it is really very flat - but 42k is 42k. Struggled with a 5k parkrun on Sat...

Well Done to all the runners - a huge achievement.

Tower Bridge is the nearest us lesser mortals get to the feeling Bobby Zamora got when he scored 'that' goal at Wembley!

Did it in 2009 for guide dogs in 4hrs 59 min 33 sec,aged 44.
Desperately wanted to get under 5 hrs was really pleased with my time.
Fabulous day from start to finish, crowd, organisers, stewards, a brilliantly organised event.
Well done to anyone who did it or any other marathon around the world.

Kudos to anyone who runs them.

I can't quite see the attraction myself!
