Nearly one third (29%) of children in Wales live in poverty 09:22 - Apr 29 with 2592 viewsWhiterockin

NHS Wales spends £1 out of every £10 they have on diabetes, for instance, yet "most Type 2 diabetes cases are preventable" with healthy eating and exercise. Never mind we are 2nd in the World for recycling. We really need a Welsh government that will prioritise the Welsh people.

This nonsense again, what is surely beyond doubt that NO, it's not just Wales, many countries across the world have inept, negligent and useless governments.

The proper funding thing, Wales gets more per head than any part of England except London so the English might feel agrieved at your suggestion we should get more.

The Senedd care about Wales? I have a bridge to sell you.

Enfys hospitals, sending people from hospital to nursing homes without tests killing far too many, Wales voted for Brexit, the crown estate i and HS2 I'll cede the point but there are so many damaging Senedd decisions too like planting trees in Africa when Wales is short of money. Westminster being poor doesn't give the Senedd a free pass.

Planting trees in Africa compared to the list of dreadful work by Westminster. This is beyond a joke post. Laughable.

More whataboutery .Truly laughable the topic is about Wales not Westminster.

I'm not sure he realises the Senedd implemented field hospitals in Wales as well. Even though apparently we did things differently in Wales.

I'm sure he does but conveniently choses to ignore that particular fact along with many other on how Wales is and has been run.

No, the Senedd shouting how short of money they are then sending millions to other countries is a joke and very laughable.

Whataboutery isn't a good answer.

I found this on line from a freedom of information request.
"The total amount of funding that has been paid to organisations based in Uganda since 2018-19 to June 2023 is £177,981."

These people are the poorest of the poor. Help them in place and they will not come here on a boat.

Apparently the cost is just shy of £4M according to ITV.

On the freedom for information report £3miver the last 16 years. A lot less recently clearly.
It is little more than good public relations. Wealthy people like us helping out the poorest of the poor.

It is called charity and it will get a few paragraphs in the brochure to impress potential investors.

£200,000 a year .£4000 a week. It would not pay Sam,Parkers wages.

Add it to the list of reasons why Labour are getting voted out of the Senedd. As individuals we help the poorest of the poor, it's not the job of the Senedd when they are complaining there is not enough money for essential services.

It may be cash positive and box ticking. Everyone does it including commercial organisations.

It goes in the brochure when Wales is selling itself to investors. It says we are good people with a conscious. Wake up and smell the" sustainable coffee".

The fact that this is used to bash the Senedd tells me it's doing not too badly. The 20 mph thing is being rolled back and the Bryn Glas issue is the only real issues.

Question is why did anybody vote for another talking shop of nonsense in Cardiff Bay .

Breaking news they want to get more freeloaders into their comfy seats and state of the art lap top nobodies , yet roads around me are crumbling with potholes like craters .

Already got another useless lot of Politicians in Westminster again as per normal .

Lets throw in another tier of administration , so needed of course .

A year later being on their waiting I have finally got to see a Specialist at NPT hospital .

Where the heck is our hard earned going , the answer to that question is very debatable .

Its Senedd and at least they care about Wales.

With proper funding they would do ok.
Unless you think welsh people are uniquely unable to run their own affairs ?

Westminster has not recovered from the Nightingale hospitals that nobody used, or botched PPE, or Brexit, or HS2 robbery, or Crown Estate, you know there are so many damaging London decisions.

The senedd has never cared about Wales, except the Cardiff area. If they did they would have invitested in infrastructure like the fully funded m4 relief road.

Despite getting 30% more funding per person than England, education standards are the lowest in the UK. NHS waiting list in Wales are the longest in the UK.

30%? Lets not get carried away, isn't it more like 8%, at least that's what it is for health and scial care.

Wales get £130 per person under the Barnett formula for every £100 they get in England.

According to maths 30/100 is 30%. Not sure where your 8% came from.

The 29% of children living in poverty is purely an arbitrary figure based on some dubious facts. One of them is the family income being 60% of average earnings. Even if you double everyone's wages there would still be 29% in poverty.

Another nonsense factor they use is children sharing a bedroom.

I doubt anyone in the third world would consider the UK poverty striken.

That's not true though, on average Wales gets 11% more per head than England but different parts of England get different amounts with London getting more per head than Wales.

Why is there a formula at all?

Yes Wales is underperforming and while Westminster plays a part in that the Senedd is the main reason now, not giving Wales want it needs or wants and wasting money on vanity projects.

You understanding is poor. Wales contributes a lot. Unfortunately for us it has been centred on raw materials like a struggling African state. The classic Free market economy model.

Wales produced essential of life like Water energy and food. These are vital but of low value. The country cannot do without out the contribution from our soil. The coal in Merthyr as kept going long enough (without planning permission) until Tata closed raw steel furnaces . The people of Merthyr who put up with this shit now find that British project management has left an £100m shortfall in the money put aside for reinstatement.

They will have to go cap in hand for "subsidies" to the Westminster Government.

"We are not contributing that much" is anther slur. Perhaps you are one of those morons singing "we know what we are". Yuk.

I said other COUNTRIES not just one.

If the last bit is true then why are so many coming here in boats? The truth is the poorest of the poor cannot afford to pay the people traffickers. The very poorest aren't coming here.

What should be the first thing on your mind is where is the Senedd's priority? Is it in looking after its own people or looking after other countries and their people. I say that because with the way the world is going, a lot of people want them to sort Wales out first.

We as a liberal democracy a predominantly Christian need to be consistent with our values. The Senedd is doing this. A very small contribution to U gf and a is honourable and kind and supports charitable organisations helping out. Only a miserable spirited person would use such a gesture in a negative way like you gave.

The Senedd on my opinion needs to get people back to work even those of disability benefits. There are a lot of things that need attention.

Processing asylum applications a lot a faster is one.

The Christian Church reckons it has around 700k regulkar worshippers whereas the are over 3.9 million Muslims in the Uk and apparently 56% are regualr attendees at their mosque. That's close on 3 times as many as Christans.

Personally I'd describe myself as Agnostic but leaning towards atheist.
