Not sure on the legalities of this as it’s out of the window. The last we heard albeit two days ago was he was heading back to Forest after Saturday.

It could be a pre-agreement whch his parent club would have to agree to. We'll find out soon but if getting him back was one of AS's conditions AND they managed it, it shows a serious streak for next season. The cynic in me doubts its true though. I'd love to be wrong.

It wouldn’t be in Sheehan’s contract that’s for sure. The best surely is a handshake and a ‘guarantee’ they will either fulfil a contractual agreement the club have on Lewis with Forest or an acceptance they will do all they can to bring him to the club. Anyone actually recall a situation like this ? There could be loads of examples 🤷🏻♂️ Let’s hope it’s accurate he will be a lynch pin in the first eleven next season.

I'd go as far and say fantastic if it's true. Imagine having him here for a whole season along with Franco and the new lad what options that would give AS.

Example of returning to the club for the start of the next season after initial January loan,Guehi? Different situation as Guehi as he would have still have a value to the parent club Chelsea as I think he had a year left on his contract at the end of his second loan where as I believe O'Brien's contract ends at the end of next season, if Forest deemed him surplus to requirement then given his deem value in the Championship level after this initial stint you would think they would cash in? Players personal choice being taking onto account by Forest?

I would imagine that there are Championship teams willing to pay a fee for O'brien but possibly he would not go unless they match his wages. If we are going to pay his wages in full next season that would be £1M on top of what we paid this season. He would be out of contract in 12 months and we could agree a decent signing on fee spread over the term of his new contract. All ifs and buts, we will just have to wait and see.

Lewis O'Brien on 11:15 - May 1 with 1200 views | hectorshouse | Latest estimate is that Lewis O'Brien is on £45,000 a week, that's £2.3 million a year. With on costs that's about 10% of our entire turnover spent on one player. as much as I would love to see this happen I am not comfortable with this. It would appear to be a reckless role of the dice, or as some people call it....ambition

If there is no transfer fee and it is structured wisely to cover this year and a signing on fee over his next contract here, then it could be an exceptional piece of business. We get a £5M ish player he is happy and the affect on PSR is minimal because the total cost is spread over the length of a potential contract.
