Weakest ever championship I seen no team in the play offs are in form. 14:41 - May 3 with 1055 viewsSwans9

Make no mistake this division will be a different animal next season. We need to recruit and not think it's easy to stay up. Birmingham will be really strong with relegated sides west brom Boro and Wrexham mid table at best.

Leeds and Burnley going up and Luton going down will remove 3 clubs with parachute payments, possibly one more if Sheffield United go up. Next season could well have the fewest teams with parachute payments for a while. IMO next season will not be harder, some decent work this summer buying and selling and we will be in with a real chance of going up.

Am I right in saying their parachute payments are split between the rest of the Championship clubs?

So Cardiff won’t get any?

Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

Birmingham and Wrexham should be better prepared/funded than a lot of teams who get promoted so the sides who take the drop next season might be harder to predict.

Coventry, Blackburn, Bristol and Millwall being in and around the playoffs on the final day is perfect evidence for there being no particular reason as to why we can't be next season.

Three teams come down with parachute payments. This season has demonstrated that sometimes that's not enough. Get enough things right and we could be contenders for getting back into the PL.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

But won't they be replaced by three teams coming down with parachute payments?

There are often 6-8 teams with parachute payments in the championship, this will not be the case next season. By my reckoning it will only be the 3 coming down unless Sheffield United don't go up. A massive leveler for next season, this season I believe there were six clubs in the league with parachute payments. This was discussed at the fans forum and it was explained how it affects our position in the "wages expenditure position" and to be successful we need to outperform our salary expenditure position. We were told our salary position was about 10th-12th this season and at the time of the forum we were under achieving and we need to overachieve to be successful. We finished 11th so spot on according to salary expenditure.

The Championship has been as weak as this a few times, it comes and goes like that. Some clubs sink through poor management, some rise because of good management and some get big investment, like Wrexham and Birmingham.

I don't think this league will be that much stronger next season, there are quite a few clubs struggling with debt, some have squads that are on a downward trajectory. I think a team that's done it's business early, that has a reliable manager and can find consistency early on will have a good run at it. Hooefully that can be us.
The 3 relegated teams will obviousky be a threat, better squads, more money to spend but they can be beaten, we gave Leeds and Sheff Utd good games this season.
We are in the hands of the recruitment team now, if they do a good job, we have a chance.

I'm massively excited for next season. We've got our man (Sheehan) and the club appear to already be investing in some exciting signings. Keeping Darling would be a real shit in the arm but failing that I've got confidence that the scouting department already have replacements lined up. I was hoping both Allen and Naughton would sign on for another year to have that experience in the squad and have as back-up players but it does potentially open the door for some of the U21's to have a chance of making the grade and stepping up to the senior squad.(Not sure who).

We should be aiming for a top 6 finish next year, but not be too disappointed if we fall just short. Ultimately, if we can finish higher than 11th next year with more than 61pts then we will have improved and continue to head in the right direction.

And if we do that slight bit better and go on to improve slightly again the following year we would be better prepared for a promotion.
