Advanced Talks with US Consortium on 22:09 - May 6 with 1382 views | CrashBandicoot | Over 30 English clubs in the Premier League & EFL have American owners or co/part owners so it'll be interesting to see what happens and how the new owner decides to invest in the club. Hopefully it will turn out like the clubs in the upper echelons of the league and not like Carlisle, Crawley or Gills. Though for the most part clubs have usually thrived & prospered under American owners. It was a bittersweet time under RC's ownership - I think tbf to him he tried to do the best he could for the club in his tenure but he made a lot of bad decisions and the club sunk from the Championship to L2 (and nearly the national league).

Advanced Talks with US Consortium on 07:34 - May 7 with 1285 views | noah4x4 | These are my thoughts… 1. Few tangible assets at Cuckoo Farm (Stadium owned by Council). 2. Tiptree Training Centre has always had the spectre of housing development hanging over it. 3. US Consortium are property developers. Coincidence? Will they really care about what happens to the football club if they secure the Tiptree land assets? Frankly, I’ve never been convinced that Cowling had different ambitions and suspect this was always his exit plan. We have a new Government willing to sweep away planning barriers to achieve its housing goals. The timing is right for blanketing Tiptree with affordable housing. But is it right for Colchester United? I hope I am wrong. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

The Piatak family's ownership of Carlisle United has been a complete disaster. They have pumped a massive amount of money into the club by League Two standards. But they failed to get the most basic and important factor right; an experienced and knowledgeable football man to oversee footballing decisions. Colchester United have outstanding football men in the Cowleys. The most important brick is in place. Just as long as the new owners don't think appointing Wayne Rooney instead would be a good idea!

I think Mickey Rooney would have done a better job than Wayne Rooney if indeed he was still alive. Then again I also think Mickey Mouse with Donald Duck as assistant would do a better job than Wayne Rooney...

Under LLC it's possible he was a sole trader. Has he just formed a new company as a start up with some big hitters on board???? It's all a bit of a mystery. Anyway, we have sent Tim Foley an email and if he replies l will post it on here. Text from our email - Hello, I was once an Associate Director and major sponsor of the club - wishing you well and looking forward to a new dawn. Advanced Talks with US Consortium on 20:10 - May 7 with 1011 views | wessex_exile | Another significant factor that we shouldn't overlook. In 2026 the USA hosts the World Cup. That is going to ramp up interest in football exponentially in the states. I'm not going to begin to second-guess what that might mean, but the investment potential could be massive.

I'm not sure about that. It was held there in 1994, without really having a major impact. What a disgrace that it will have been there twice in just over 30 years but only once here. Tells you all you need to know about FIFA. [Post edited 7 May 21:41]

I agree, esp when you consider the fact that Qatar was the host country in 2022, Fifa love their backhanders...

Funny as I was going to suggest you offer them your services as I didn't think the video was all that great personally. The website is pretty naff too and tells you nothing.

I agree re. the website ...however, this looks like a brand new entity / start up company with possibly another party / parties other than those named financing project Colchester United. There were times when Robbie Cowling and l had a difference of opinion but there is no denying that he has kept Colchester United going virtually ( financially speaking ) single handed. I would also like to thank him for some incredible work away from football ( on a bicycle no less ) and his stance on Ukraine ( Forest Green Rovers match ). He has had a multitude of challenges and it must have taken quite a toll on him - especially over the past seven years. We were fairly close to finding a buyer for Southend United a couple of years ago....ran it between Ron Martin, the sales agents and an extremely wealthy musician. I'm glad it didn't go any further than initial discussions....running a modern day football club is too much to fall on the shoulders of one person no matter how much help he or she gets. One of my 'associates' just came out with it one night during a phone conversation from the other side of the world....said - 'I wanna buy a football club, go find me one in Div 1 or Div 2'. I knew Southend was up for sale and had a fair idea Colchester United might be too...never mentioned Colchester to him but he liked the sound of Southend. His budget was around £15 million but l did warn him that it would likely lose around £2 million a year. 🙂🙃🙂🙃

My view on the video wasn't so much from a production quality perspective, more on the message I took from it. Since the Cowley's have come on board, the bond between supporters and club is stronger than for many years. My anxiety over a new owner is that they won't perhaps get that, or overlook it in a 'new broom' approach of sweeping (pun intended) change. The video suggests they get the importance of that connection, and featured it prominently - which I found kind of reassuring.

Advanced Talks with US Consortium on 12:32 - May 11 with 191 views | SparkfilmsTV | It occured to me this morning while l was watering the grass that the new owners of Colchester United might be interested in purchasing our Layer Road film archive - quite a bit of unreleased film of the club that they might be able to work with...or perhaps in the spirit of free enterprise we should donate it. I'll run it past the guys if and when they get their feet firmly under a desk at the stadium. Change happens. Several of the current staff are wondering if they will be part of the new regime. I don't really see any reason why they shouldn't be but l do think there will be some major changes to how the club is run in the future.
