Southend (H) 23:07 - May 7 with 9523 views | Shun | Has anybody seen this match advertised on any billboard or bus stop around town? I only ask as I travel around the whole of Rochdale regularly and I haven’t. I posted similar on Twitter, but why is this game not plastered every-bloody-where? Thousands of people drive past those animated billboards at St.Mary’s Gate every day (usually sat next to them in traffic). That’s just one of dozens of locations that get thousands of Rochdalian eyes on them daily. Why haven’t we got any advertisement up? It’s no use advertising on the official website or emailing season-ticket holders, we already know about it. Billboards, bus stops, even a great big banner on Sandy Lane right outside the ground. This is our biggest game in years yet the average Rochdalian has no idea about it. Edit: I in no way meant to detract from the positivity of the other thread or that wonderful video, but I do think this conversation needs to be had. [Post edited 7 May 23:17]

Southend (H) on 23:29 - May 12 by James1980 | Is this in part due to loyalty towards former board members, pariahs included? |
I don't have a clue to be honest James. There are still those in and around the club who showed loyalty to Bottomley even after he'd been kicked out of the club, they know who they are though, we all do. There are hangers on at every football club though, never pay through the turnstiles, free tickets etc. When the fans were fighting to save the club they were nowhere to be seen. Edging their bets, didn't want to be seen as unloyal to their friend David Bottomley, they put him before the club. They'll be best mates with the new regime now. The last few years have been a very stressful time for everybody involved with the Club. For the fans it's been a nightmare, for those in the Boardroom who put in a lot of their own money and had to have dialogue with those from MH etc it would have been worse. At times of stress, deeds are done and words are said that reflect the gravity of the situation. I believe that now is a time of reflection and a time to rebuild bridges. Be the better man and reach out the hand of friendship, bury grudges and realise that the pressure of trying to save the club had a detrimental effect on everybodies mental health, well for those that cared about the club it did. The saddest thing is that we have some Directors who during the midst of the storm felt the need to leave the Boardroom having tipped up a awful lot of their own money in an attempt to save it...as i said, deeds done and words said in very stressful and unusual times. At the very least i would like to see the olive branch and hand of friendship reach out from the club in an attempt to welcome them back into the fold. Their involvement in saving the club deserves that and the likes of Jamie Sarsfield is a life long fan and successful businessman who should really be involved in pushing the club forward. The Ogden family need people like him involved in the club, somebody who can get things done. Regarding the loyal fans who have turned their back on the club, i don't have an explanation. Grown men and woman fall out at times, big deal, its not a reason to stop supporting your football club. [Post edited 13 May 7:30]
