With Stewart & Ings both prone to injury, as Nick has said, albeit Ings isn’t as battered as some at his age, I still think it would be a big risk having half of the strike force with such a combined injury record. If you look at what some teams did to the likes of Edozie last time we were in this division I could see a team like Millwall playing us in August and consigning both Ings and Stewart to lengthy lay offs by half time! Shankland looked good last season but has wilted a bit this season. On a good day he’s quite a handful and would not be afraid of the physicality of the Championship.

I hear that Will Still's teams have put more crosses into the box than any other team in France, so if he's the man we'll need some strikers who can get on the end of crosses. That's not really AA or Archer.

Would be typical Saints to get rid of Tall Paul just as we start throwing lots of crosses in the box.

Ings has been pretty much fit since he joined us in 2018, in fact that was his last season where he missed a significant number of games through injury, about 10 in total, other than that he has not picked up many injuries in the last 6 seasons, so from this perspective he is not a gamble because of his injury record.

Its a gamble worth taking as he would cost us nothing

Ings would cost us far from nothing.

His wages would be massive for a Championship club.

Poll: Would you be happy with Rishi Sunak as a new Saints owner?

Ings is not going to be getting anything near the wages that he was on at West Ham and I would suspect that there will be few Premier League clubs in for him, so I would think his wage demands would be affordable given there is no fee payable

Don't think I'd have a problem with him providing he doesn't come up with stupid demands. And as has been said on here Still limes using wingers we need a target man. Just don't expect the same player as when here previously, though that wouldn't be too bad

Difficult to pick up injuries just sitting on the substitutes bench - well 'normal' football injuries anyway!
