I like your articles Nick, but very rarely agree with them :-).

Juric was the only manager that really gave him a go and he repaid that faith with 4 goals in 11 starts. The other 2/3rd of the seasons of the season we had mangers that didnt want to get the ball forward and largely ignored him.

We now have a manager that wants to get crosses into the box, seems daft to sell for a fee that we would pay for a youth defender, that we will then loan out.

Poll: Has the Ross Stewart deal already paid off as Nick says?

Onuachu strikes me as too injury-prone.

I don't think you can rely on him over a season.

We need a more reliable go-to striking option.

It could be that that is within our current squad.

Poll: Would you be happy with Rishi Sunak as a new Saints owner?

I have no problem with people disagreeing with me, it would be boring if we all agreed on everything, all I ask is that like your post here, that people give the reason why they disagree.

I agree that under Martin it wasn't suited to his style and Juric's more direct game might have suited him more.

4 goals in 11 starts is a good return, that cannot be denied, but for me he didn't do enough to make space for himself and create openings,

He was a reactive player, as in the goal at Ipswich when after the goalkeeper had saved it he poked the ball home, he didnt actually win many headers when it was contested for me.

Yes he might have been a lot better in the Championship as the standard was lower, but with a year left on his contract better to cut our losses now and get £4 million or so in a fee and save £2.5 -3 million in wages.

If we look at the stats a little bit deeper.

Onuachu got a goal for every 261 minutes of football, narrow that down to just games under Juric or Rusk and its a goal every 233 minutes.

If we compare Ross Steward under Juric or Rusk and he has a goal every 254 minutes.

So not a lot of difference there

Ross Stewart scored one goal in an end of season friendly :-)

We should offer him a contract extension, possibly on reduced wages which would still be a good deal with him. As Butty says, apart from a few games, we just haven't used him as we should, but in the few games that we did he showed enough to prove he adds a different type of attacking option and can score goals. It seems laughable that we sell him when we finally appoint a manager who likes crosses.

Yes, he should be more aggressive, but which Saints player can't we say that about? That can be coached. In England he's been playing in more physical games than he's used to but I see no reason why he couldn't adapt his game. He may not be PL standard but that doesn't matter this year. We'll need a few options at centre forward this year and anyone else we'll have to pay a transfer fee for. I would have liked to see him, if nothing else, as an option off the bench in the last 30 mins of a tight game in the Championship.

Lost the internet mid-post, the short version of what I did say was we were stupid not selling him last summer for whatever we could get as Martin was not going to play him and saved a years wages but as he is still here we may as well now keep him as an option as we won't be able to replace him for the money received and the wages saved? That got me thinking, that Martin was not going to play him, just how many players we bought or loaned last season who Matin and the 1 loanie Juric got did not play, let's hope Spors and Still actually speak to each other and the players retained (whoever they are), bought or loaned are actually in the Managers thoughts of playing, I know it's a squad game but the players available at least need to have a chance of playing?

Not fair to use stats like that as Onuachu was often brought on from the bench in the second half, sometimes with just a few minutes left in a game.

Onuachu may have not been Premiership standard but we did him no favours the way we played him and the way we were set up.
