RIP Brian Wilson 18:13 - Jun 11 with 1297 viewsEllDale

Founder member and lynchpin of the Beach Boys.
Such a distinctive sound of the 1960s.

Oh heck. Another good 'un gone........ and they say it comes in threes.

The worm of time turns not for the cuckoo of circumstance.

A huge talent..the film Love. and Mercy about Brian was a joy to watch warts and all.

God only knows was decades ahead of its time

Delivered to us in the 60s, but actually, the sounds Brian Wilson brought out of his brothers and the final lineup will prove to be timeless

Too many great hits and harmonies to mention, but my favourites:

I Can Hear Music
Do It Again
California Girls

RIP

Totally agree. The first two tracks are amongst my memories of the first Dale promotion season!

Genius is the word..

Hal Blaine on drums and other Wrecking Crew members this track took about 6 months to record with several iterations of the backing group

His last recording was No Pier Pressure

RIP.
Watched that film last year. A brilliant portrayal of a musical genius. Paul Dano and John Cusack both amazing playing young and old Brian - recommend it very highly to watch.
Sloop John B will always be remembered by Dale fans during our first promotion under Keith Hill.

Its a BRILLIANT goal to cap a BRILLIANT start by Rochdale - Don Goodman 26/08/10

Saw him in 2004 at Newcastle City Hall playing the Smile album in full. Went with my dad, both of us in tears as soon as the harmonies of the first song started up. Right up there with Bowie and Strummer for me. Good time of the year to play some of his classics and remind ourselves of his genius.
