Can somebody explain the logic of selling an up and coming winger when we have struggled so badly in that position?

He's gone to Strasborg for £6m (that's £1m less than we spaffed up the wall on Brereton-Diaz) and we've lost a player who two years ago in the Championship impressed me when Martin actually showed any faith in him. I think in his handfull of sub appearances he put in more dangerous crosses than Sulemana has his entire Saints career

From my vague memory….

He wanted to leave and we risked losing him on a free transfer.

He looked promising to me but I wasn’t sure he had enough in his locker to make it at the top level.

Time will tell, I guess.

Has this been confirmed? I can't see it anywhere.

Strasbourg signed him in January on loan with a commitment to buy.

I suppose he'd be a bit lightweight for the PL but he had pace, coulkd take a player on and cross the ball so two things that Sulemana didn't

Only under SR could you sign a 6'-7" and a 6'-3" striker and loan out/drop all your decent crossers

Make sense I guess. Why would SR risk playing a player like him in the PL when we had such stars as Ryan Fraser.

As Pat says he didnt want to sign a new deal, so we had two choices. see him leave at the end of it and risk getting a pitiful development fee possibly at a tribunal or sell him now where we could get a decent price.

Personally I rated him, I would have liked to see him stay.

Her didn't want to sign a new deal as we were signing dross to play instead of him.

Strange that a player who cant get in the Southampton or Brentford first team plays 12 games for Preston and for the second half of the loan spell is mainly an unused sub, should be in the England U19 squad

I think its more strange that we dont want to give Meghoma a chance. He must be a reasonable prospect if he got a loan to a championship level club and got game time. Compare that to some of our youth product got bombed out of the likes of Crawley.
