Welsh National Theatre 10:02 - Jun 18 with 1014 views | johnlangy | We all, myself included, complain all the time about 'everything goes to Cardiff'. And most of the time we are perfectly right to do so. But when something happens that's good for Swansea it's right that we welcome it. The Welsh National Theatre founded by Michael Sheen is being set up in the Civic Centre. And only seven months until the first production goes live ! That sounds a bit overly positive. But no complaints from me.

The Welsh Proms haven't been happening since the ST David's theatre was condemned if the Wales Millennium Centre wont take it on why cant the Swansea arena step up? I've been to 2 orchestral concerts in the arena and the acoustics are more than adequate.

There's already an amphitheatre outside the entrance to LC2 , fill that first before such grandiose ideas , remember its Swansea we're talking about.

We will have to wait and see if the demand is here to make it sustainable or if it will need to be heavily subsidised and if needed who pays.

If it ever diverts limited council funds from things that matter towards a wealthy actor's vanity project then yes, it would be. It must be absolutely self funding. I bet you're one of those people who thought that the tidal lagoon was a great idea too.

The tidal lagoon was a great idea , but not in the way it was to be funded .

What if its not a vanity project, and the actor is just trying to put something positive back into his home area ? You know things like comprehensive education, NHS, old age pension, labour laws and social care … they all needed somebody with the mindset to go do good for others. You never know do you …?

But when something good actually comes to Swansea they complain about that as well. As far as i'm concerned I fully expect and hope that a substantial amount of public money IS ploughed into the project along with private money. Well done Mr Sheen and thank you for putting your OWN money into this project.
