New Season, new mindset required. 07:06 - Jul 2 with 1414 views | TalkingSutty | So the players are back , McNulty has a new assistant in the dug out. A fresh pair of eyes on the management team is definitely needed. We need some new players also, some physicality and passion needs injecting into the squad and also the players. The stand out statistic from last season for me is this one...we played 14 crucial games last season, 13 against teams who finished in the top seven ( Southend in the play offs) and Spennymoor in one of the biggest home games in the clubs history. We managed to win just one game in those fourteen matches. That's a very damning statistic and any neutral observer looking at that would point to tactical inadequacy from the manager and question the mindset of the players going into these games. It screams of a lack of self belief and winning mentality. Too many people in their comfort zone who prioritise performance over results maybe? Work on the training ground and practicing patterns of play is all very commendable but it's obvious that when the pressure games come around the evidence shows that the manager and the players failed to deliver big time. It's either down to the environment around the training ground and in the changing room, or the manager and players are simply not good enough and can't deal with pressure of having to win the important games. That conundrum should be the focus over the next few weeks because there needs to be a change of mentality and it has to come from the manager. The word 'belief' is massive in football and when i listen to McNulty speak I'm always left questioning if he has it. He seems to have more belief in our opponents than he does in his own team. A submissive mentality that he tries to also inflict on the fans either in the build up to big games or after and It does him no favours as a manager. One win in fourteen games is not a statistic to just ignore and shrug off, if thats not addressed then we can't progress. It's great that they're all mates together and nice human beings but those statistics are damning and point to a weak mentality and soft underbelly when it comes to mixing it with the better teams. It needs to change and I'd like to hear how the manager plans to do it, thats if he even accepts it as a problem, as a stats man i'm sure he does because it simply can't be ignored. Over to you Greg. New Season, new mindset required. on 11:05 - Jul 2 with 1133 views | D_Alien | I've no expectation of a change of mindset by McNulty, but perhaps there's a recognition that a change of gear is needed in the dressing room with Taylor coming on board. It would be instructive to find out how his recruitment happened (and by whom) once Gibbins indicated he was leaving. It happened pretty quickly so someone has their finger on the pulse Reading between the lines, wouldn't surprise me if polite but clear words haven't come from Cameron Ogden. He seems to have got a handle on a very complex set of circumstances, all new to him, in short order and that includes "getting" what fans want. On a couple of occasions last season, he arranged hospitality for business associates at games. One was postponed (at home) another away when our performance stank Early days, but if our new e-ticketing now works, that's also a huge problem sorted. Matters on the pitch can't be so easily or directly influenced but bringing in Taylor looks like a positive step and while he and McNulty are former team-mates Taylor seems like the kind of guy who's "his own man" and although no doubt McNulty will have been consulted on it, he's the club's man rather than a leftover from the previous regime As for Greg... again, no chance of him becoming less of a sycophant, these things don't change, only a change of personnel can make things happen

Agree with a lot of that, there's a chance that Taylor could prove to be the best bit of recruitment this Summer. I don't think he'll put up with under achievement , he might even want to break into management himself.
New Season, new mindset required. on 11:42 - Jul 2 with 1003 views | Dale_4_Life | Have watched quite a few highlights reels on you tube from last season.. This squad is more than capable OMG we put several teams to the sword last season when we played with that quicker more direct less negative style of play… Then we had the stinkers that littered the season and also the stat above getting thumped 4-0 and 4-0 at home in the two games v Barnet and York. Can’t wait for the opening game there is no reason these talented footballers will not be refreshed prepared and chomping at the bit to get started!!

Barlow is running the show."

As a fan base I believe that we have to insist upon a review and overhaul the Greg and Big Jim post match show, it's an embarrassing pointless exercise, I've stopped watching, there are enough dissatisfied active customers on this forum to affect change and provide Dale Fans with something other than a pre scripted love in !
