This bridge is about 60 years old as every one old knows at that age things tend to creak. Camera are being used to monitor weight restrictions with big fines probably.

There is a 7.5 to one wight limit to give longevity to the cables holding it the up which are deteriorating. Structures like this usually are designed for 100 years.

Not heard of anywhere he ere where the cables have been replaced. It would be a very tricky business.

Expect this structure to be shut within a decade or two. Could the piers be reused?

China an Turkiye have v built numerous structures like this. The A. 48 was a technology leader so we are learning from experience..

The Golden gate Bridge in San Francisco was built in 1937 and the cables were retrofitted 30 years later so it can be done. They managed to keep the roadway open.

"During the 1967-1969 Bridge inspection conducted by Amman & Whitney, advancing corrosion was discovered at the suspension rope connection point at the roadway. Bridge engineers worked with Amman & Whitney to develop the first-ever plans and specifications to replace the suspender ropes, while keeping the span open to traffic"

The GG Span is 1280m and the A498 SB 988m
