I've always thought that Part Of The Union was a very clever song that reflected the time, even though I was very much a union man myself.

That is very sad to hear. It must have been around 1970 and one of the bands I was in used to rehearse down stairs in The White Bear Hounslow. The Strawbs had the slot next to us and we used to pass a few minutes chatting to Dave, and Rick Wakeman, between humping the gear in and out. RIP Dave. |  |

Oh no.
The first LP I ever bought that was stereo was the Strawbs first release. The sound was amazing.
I got into them via a programme that featured them on BBC2 amazingly with an unknown mime artist …..David Bowie!
A few years back they did a free session at my wife’s special school as they supported an autism charity. Dave and co signed all my albums! Confirmed it was Bowie and that Rick Wakeman hated his photo on one of the covers and got it changed. Mines the ugly one!
