Battle of Orgreave national inquiry confirmed ... 10:17 - Jul 21 with 1621 viewstheloneranger

"A national inquiry will be held into one of the most violent days of the year-long miners' strike in the 1980s, the government has announced.

The inquiry would look into the clash that involved police and miners outside the Orgreave coking plant in Rotherham on 18 June 1984.

The incident, which became known as the Battle of Orgreave, involved miners from across Britain converging on the plant to try to disrupt deliveries, but they were met with force by thousands of police officers."

Again, don't believe the narrative

I was around at the time Scargill called out the miners in the March of 84 when the coal board had massive reserves of coal stock hence the picketing which led up to Orgreave

You give it out, you take it back it`s all part of the game

There is much apochraphal tales out there that have become the truth
If you're from a former mining area then your perspective is different from somebody in Sutton Coldfield
They were from times and O ain't going to mention the NUM leader of that time

Poll: Christmas. Enjoyable or not

Same here, my job at the time including working Aberthaw power station and the stock pile of coal was a sight to behold , I remember that, maybe it was Thatcher, saying they would never be caught out by not having substantial coal reserves.
It was a dark period in our collective path , I'll never forget the amount of poverty and how it spread even to those who weren't miners but worked as ancillary workers.

I worked in British Steel and was out on strike for over 13 weeks in 1980 and we'll remember the hardship that caused you can't imagine something like that today

My father worked in Ford’s and they also had some very lengthy strikes. One of my uncles worked in British Steel and I can remember him being on strike for a long time, he went away a few times picketing.
