The revenue needs increasing and it will only get shrapnel from this gaming arena once the six figure sum on outlay is paid back.

Let’s say FL £500K and PL £1M a season for naming rights and the hope would be in the not so distance future to revert back to original wrong name.

It has to happen with th eright sponsor obvs.

Ive exampled

DP World St Marys Stadium

or

Ageas Stadium

No more pissing in the wind with 'obvious' financial flops like the dell bar and within a couple of years this gaming folly.

Does stadium naming rights always work?
Take the Rose Bowl (world?) class purpose buit arena for cricket that is now called Utilita and previously Ageas (sp?) Bowl, but watching the T20 and 100 on tv recently they still call it The Rose Bowl!

Its a marketing and yeah its the rose bowl, but we're so far down the road in commercial revenue its crazy.

Times have changed and weve lost out on millions from not following on from Friends provident.

And to think Krueger was out there supposedly ‘growing the brand’ abroad…….

Totally understand your point re: naming rights, but let’s be realistic, £2m wouldn’t even cover Jacks wages for the season. Sadly staying in the PL is the vital component.

It was the Friends Provident St Mary;s Stadium in the first few years, so I wouldn,t have any objection as long as it maintained that wording ie as your example DP World St mary;s Stadium.

Brighton's deal with Amex is reported to be worth about £8 million and Everton's deal with Hill Dickinson £10 million.

So I would think we could get a higher deal than £1 million a season even in the Championship, given our standing in the game, we could possibly attract £5 million at the moment and with clauses for it to increase if we go back to the Premier League.'

Garmin whose UK head office is in Totton would be a good target

Am I right in thinking that the club / fans pushed a bit for the ‘St. Mary’s’ to be included as the original name was suggested to be simply the Friends Provident Stadium’ ?

Always remember Rodney Marsh slagging off the St. Mary’s bit as the twerp had no idea why it would be St. Mary’s.

If we did rename it, regardless of whether the prerequisite was to include St. Marys or not. I think it would still be called that by the majority. Bmuff is still Dean Court to me….
