Europe is paying American defence contractors many billions to fight the war. Trump isn't being played by Putin- Europe (including us,) are being played by Donald who is more shrewd than many give him credit for.

The war was being waged long before Trump entered the White House. We're paying the US billions because their Patriot system is the best in the world... and it's expensive. And we're paying because the war is in Europe - on our doorstep. I know you hate Trump with a passion, but he's right ; Europe should pay its fair share for a war just 2000 miles away from here.

To be fair, at least Trump is trying to do something, even it is self interest for America. He did intervene with the Israel and Iran war and helped to stop it. Ultimately, he wants more money for America. Wars cost money. Oil is more expensive, energy is more expensive, and so on. It will be interesting to see what happens next regarding Putin. I'm not sure that they will come up with something that's fair to Ukraine.

As for Europe, they have had years to meet with Putin, and none of those leaders have achieved it. Trump at least meets with the enemy and tries to take action. All they did before Trump was apply restrictions to Russia, but they had little impact. Russia continues to trade with China and other nations.
