Dark enlightenment 08:50 - Aug 21 with 812 views | saint901 | I came across a post on Linkedin recently which mentions the above. It claims that a Silicon Valley entrepreneur called Curtis Yarvin has a wish/desire - and perhaps the resources - to change the USA from a democracy to a corporate dictatorship led by a CEO/dictator. (Presumably him) This piece claims that he is part of the "PayPal mafia" which selected JD Vance as their vector to power and that once the orange buffoon is removed, their path to establishing the dictatorship is set. Now, whilst I think the USA needs somebody other than the orange toddler in charge, I'm not convinced a corporate dictatorship is a better alternative. I am however intrigued by the idea because I might use it in my story writing. If anybody has any thoughts or information or has heard rumours etc, I'd be interested in hearing them.

I'm more interested in the "man in the street" (perhaps that should be "supporter on the terrace") view than anything filtered via a journalist who may have an agenda I'm unaware of. For example, if the idea is to run the USA like a company, who in their right mind would take on a business that is several trillion dollars in debt?

Dark enlightenment on 15:36 - Aug 21 with 501 views | saint901 | I have listened to the BBC piece linked above. The position of Curtis is that democracy, especially a liberal democracy, has "failed" and that in seeking to be all things to all people, all that has been achieved is a restriction of some rights - among them free speech - to some groups of people. In essence in seeking to be all things to all people all the time, western democracy has reduced everything to the lowest common denominator and in doing so, limited or restricted certain "freedoms". He therefore proposes bringing back a "king" (although he is vague about how to do that and how to remove them) in the form of a CEO of the "company called the USA". (He's not limiting his reach to the USA and this is just an example). If this were to happen he thinks Gov't would be smaller, more efficient, more able to "seize" things it wants (like Greenland or Canada) and less accountable to elected representatives. The journalist says that he is not part of the Trump inner circle but that Trump is showing signs of executing some of the ideas such as DOGE (target to save $2trillion, actually saved about $50bn) and the use of Executive Orders rather than bother with the Senate or congress. Clearly a "king" would not want to have people saying bad things about them so free speech would be an early victim. As would welfare, respect of sovereign rights, ability to remove those in power, etc. Remember absolute power corrupts. Interesting diversion.
Dark enlightenment on 18:32 - Aug 21 with 436 views | Jellybaby | 901, you're such a trooper, another day another controversial topic , so many ending in an abusive free for all- it's a wonder you have time to work, it's a good job they let you have the weekends off. Technocracy is the likely way forward for us poor old sods, as I was telling you during the covid circus. The rise of JD Vance, funded by Peter Theil and Palantir only adds fuel to the fire to that belief. It's good to see you catching up 901 and considering the end of the present paradigm. Democracy was a nice idea and if we really had it instead of a 2 party system being controlled by the oligarchy it may have stood a chance of working, but that is dead in the water and the eulogy has already been written. Remember the only real division is between the people and their controllers.
| I wholly disapprove of what you say and will defend to the death your right to say it. |

Dark enlightenment on 17:59 - Aug 22 with 260 views | saint901 | Not sure I am endorsing the ideas of Dark Enlightenment - I'm just curious. Personally I can see the idea of a "king" being a very difficult one to sell to the people. Pleased that you're keeping tabs on my though Mr Bean.
