I'll try and add something at some point, but this thread is well timed simply because I listened to Gene for the very first time this morning after a mate recommended them, before I'd even seen this thread.
Some good stuff on here. Saw Suede at the Watford Colosseum in the mid-90s when they were riding high.
The odd thing is that I have 'moved on' and haven't listened to anything Britpop in ages. I now prefer the Korean and Japanese pop of the late 60s and early 70s (hence the numerous Korean and Japanese music videos I post), or good old US/UK pop from the 60s.
