Ongoing situation in the western world 11:44 - Aug 26 with 2225 views | mangohilljack | Can anyone explain what is wrong with raising your own nation’s flag within your own country? Why is it that so many people now feel uncomfortable about openly expressing patriotism? In England, the Union Jack and the St George’s Cross are often vilified, even labelled as symbols of racism — yet the Palestinian flag is flown freely without question. What exactly is the establishment playing at? They must realise that this approach will provoke anger and division among the public. Are they deliberately fostering tensions that could escalate into wider unrest? Is this part of a longer-term plan to justify measures such as martial law, digital IDs, or widespread facial recognition surveillance? Never in my lifetime have I witnessed a government appear so opposed to its own citizens — a government seemingly intent on provoking outrage rather than unity. I genuinely want to understand: can anyone provide a logical explanation for why this is happening?

Ongoing situation in the western world on 18:05 - Aug 30 by Joesus_Of_Narbereth | “Westminster or Davos?” Without hesitation: “Davos” Our Prime Minister ladies and gentlemen. |
They tell us all we need to save the planet then all the bigwigs and their hangers on jet off to Davos (and other places) mob handed every year to spout that the rest of us fly too much. Taken from the internet, During the World Economic Forum, private jet activity at airports like Zurich sees a substantial increase, with thousands of additional flight movements. In 2025, the period around the WEF saw a 170% increase in private jet flights at Zurich, with 54 private jets landing on a single day, compared to an average of around 20 per day the week before. For the 2024 event, 306 private jets visited Zurich Airport, a significant increase compared to the previous week's 124. The total number of flights in and out of the region spikes dramatically during the WEF, with hundreds of additional flights and movements recorded. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Itls just a load more of do as I say not as I do and people are fed up of it. The worst part being that obviously we have to pay for all those extra flights, the hotels and associated costs. We are literally being taken for mugs.
Ongoing situation in the western world on 08:44 - Aug 31 with 453 views | Beethoven | “Flag waving is a sign of insecurity” I’m sorry this is definitely wrong. Nobody actually believes this. It’s not flag waving they have an issue with, it’s waving certain flags, namely the union flag/Union jack, St George cross/ensign. There have been many times in recent years when I have seen the Welsh fans waving the Welsh flag at sport events, and I have never been so proud to be Welsh seeing this. People with passion and pride in where they live regardless of race and religion. I was brought up in a time when people still had pride in being British. When the national anthem would be played at the start and end of everyday on TV. Where buildings would fly the Union flag proudly with politics not involved. When I was younger I joined the Royal Navy where I spent 10 years in service, each day saluting the Ensign. Never even thinking of politics. It was a matter of unity and pride. During this time I travelled to many countries with so many being proud of flying their nations flag. For example when I was in Asia, countries like Thailand where the people flay their nations flag everywhere you look. And are proud to do so. The TV service is stopped several times a day to play the national anthem. At events such as cinemas it starts by the national anthem being played and everyone standing. No matter were people come from everyone stands as a matter of respect to that nation and the people of that nation. Our nations flag “the Union flag” is from 1801 when it was re designed to include Ireland and meant to unite Britain. Under the flag Britain in 1807 Britain was one of the first nations to abolish slavery, stood up for woman's rights. Was the only country to stand up to the Germans twice, and the only country to enter the war without first being attacked. We did it because it was the right thing to do. Even though it almost destroyed us as a nation and left us with huge debts we have only recentl finished paying. Under this flag we gave back our empire that we built over centuries, granting independence to the majority of countries that Britain called theirs. I know that there were bad things that also happened during this time though I prefer to look to the positives. I believe that nation flags represent the people of that country not the politics of that country. We need to bring the people of Britain closer together, not cause more division. There are too many people who wish to cause division in this country and in the world. Everyone should be proud of where they come from and keep politics aside. The flag of the nation represents all people of that that nation.

Got to be honest Rich I’ve reached the end of my tether watching media coverage such as the BBC degenerating our culture with their snidey remarks. Refugees coming to the UK should honour the flag of the country who gave them sanctuary as should the ignorant Liberal elite who were born here. I have no time with people who want to turn this country into the shithole they left in the first place. And I view those who tell me to embrace change with great suspicion indeed. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Just recently taken down my Regimental flag which was erected to honour the memory of those who served and died during WW2 , this has been replaced by the Welsh & Union flag .I'm certainly not insecure by the way.

Correct about Thailand. I have been in government buildings when the appointed time comes and everybody stands to the anthem. It seemed a good idea not to be the odd one out.
