Former player photos 14:30 - Sep 3 with 14546 views | jamesisaburyfan | Hi everyone, Bury fan in peace. My uncle, Brian Williams, played for Rangers in the 70s after signing from Bury. It's his 70th this year and I'm collecting images of him throughout his career with us, you, Swindon, both Bristol teams and Shrewsbury. Is there a Rangers fan, like I know there are Bury fans, who has a vast archive of pictures that might include some of him that I could use? Any help in pointing me in the right direction of someone would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Forgive me James but "lower league player gets lucky playing against a team playing in a higher league…….. signs for them …….. plays a relatively small amount of games for them in a team that …….. to be fair ……. is very average despite being in the top league at the time. Almost 50 years later a relative mentions that said player is approaching a milestone birthday …… and a dozen or more people post a variety of memories and photos about that player remembering pretty remarkable things (for a player that played less than 20 games for his new club) because he played for us and he cared" Lovely. This club is ace and happy birthday Brian thank you for for being an R and being part of our history [Post edited 4 Sep 22:08]

Out of all the heartwarming posts on this thread, this is my favourite. Thank you. Thank toy everyone who has contributed and offered to scan pictures in from programmes. This is definitely the football family at its best. Keep an eye out for us. We won an FA Trophy preliminary round tie 3-0 yesterday. Earlier this season, we won an FA Cup extra preliminary game 6-0, which means we are surely the only club to have won an extra preliminary round game and an FA Cup final by the same scoreline.

He loved it, so I wanted to pass on my thanks to you all for taking such an interest and especially to Wade, Ant (Luther) and Martin (CheshireR) who sent me some images that really brought the QPR section of the video - featuring Don Shanks, Peter Eastoe and Phil Parkes - to life. Wade's scrap book page in particular was amazing, not least because it was compiled in South Africa. The other sections of the video (Bury, Swindon, featuring Chris Kamara, Bristol Rovers, featuring Ian Holloway, Bristol City, featuring David Moyes) also went down brilliantly. A heartfelt thanks to you all for how you reacted to this first post. Cheers. James PS - if any of you are interested in football history in the mid-80s, maybe try a download of my book about the 84/85 season for a couple of quid on Amazon [ https://www.amazon.co.uk/Forgotten-Fifteen-Triumphed-British-Footballs/dp/178132
