As usual I am guilty of wrongthink. I would only allow those teams within 5 points of the 3rd placed team, with a maximum of 4 and a minimum of 2 in the playoffs. The idea of a team 10 points behind the no. 3 team getting the promotion spot is just not right. It's a league, not a cup. | | | |

Last season it would have been Millwall 24 points behind 3rd place Sheffield United. It would just be turning the Championship into a lottery. | | | |

Teams should be promoted on merit and that merit is how that team performed over a season and therefore why should a team finishing potentially 15 points behind the winner get the chance to join it in the PL. Leave it alone . | |

Well last seasons top 6 finish blows your opinion out of the water boundy.
Sheffield Utd played Bristol City in the the play off semi final, they finished 3rd to brizzles 6th by 22pts, they beat brizzle and played Sunderland in the final who finished 14 pts behind them in 4th.
So what you are saying is there should be no play offs and the top 3 should go up. |  | | |

Surely the more points you get during the season should be an indicator of how much depth you have in the squad to cope with injuries and the like, to enable the squad to at least be competitive if promoted. Money talks in the sense that if promoted new players will be needed, but opening up the number of teams in the play off seems like another money grabbing exercise. Enough is enough the existing format works quite well in keeping the league interesting until the end of the season at both ends of the table , yes it could be deemed unfair on the 3rd placed team and any more changes would appear farcical. | | | |

I don't agree with the play offs full stop, if you finish third or higher you should be promoted on merit.
The idea of an 8th placed team going up is rubbish.
