Sam Field on 09:04 - Sep 16 by TheChef | Well clearly pretty much everyone else on here can see what he offers to the team, just a shame that you can't. But of course you're entitled to your opinion! |
So, basically, according to our brilliant Chef, if you have a minority view, it's (i) implicitly wrong and (ii) the poster should be ashamed of it. Otherwise, as he says, it's a free country!

Sam Field on 13:41 - Sep 17 with 929 views | Loyalitat | The way that some on here have already consigned, disgracefully in my view, the likes of Field to the knacker's yard, you would have thought that we've beaten some of the best teams in this division. We've only won two games against newly-promoted teams, both welcome victories, yet we were hardly convincing in either game. Yes we won, but on occasions we were porous in defence and midfield. If we fail to address those frailties, we won't be so fortunate going forward against more clinical opposition. Field and others are still an integral part of this squad and shouldn't be dismissed as surplus to requirements on account of victories against two teams promoted from division one. Sam Field on 13:53 - Sep 17 with 846 views | NorthantsHoop | A very valuable member of the team/squad, don't be too quick to write him off, in the depths of mid-winter when battling away for results the sort of player we need to shore up the midfield. We do though now have a lot of options, which is a good thing.

Exactly. No doubt he has been a great servant for the club but the fact we have greater strength in depth means it's more likely he'll play less this season. But for sure, we'll still need him.

I don't think anyone is writing him off, but as the team evolves he is going to be involved less and less bar injuries. He is probably 5th choice now, and yes, he'll be involved during the three game week, but he is not a starter. Against the better teams JS may put 3 man midfield in, but Hayden is ahead of Field. His 10 minutes against Wrexham is probably going to be the norm for him this year. It's not disrespectful, it's just clear on the pitch what is happening. I can see him leaving next summer, maybe to the MLS where he was linked 18 months ago.

Sam Field on 12:19 - Sep 17 by dmm | You make some interesting points about Chair, nix. I've been wondering where he fits in now he has some serious competition right across the front 3. If ever we have all our forwards fit at the same time, would Chair be an automatic first pick? Perhaps not, and I wouldn't be surprised to see JS adopt a 'horses for courses' approach to make use of the forward options he has. [Post edited 17 Sep 12:20]

Personally I hope no-one is an automatic pick and they all get picked based on strategic need, merit, fitness, rotation etc. That's not to denigrate Chair at all. He's an important player but it shouldn't always hinge on him.

Sam Field on 09:41 - Sep 17 by gazza1 | It is very wrong to 'knock' Field, he is a 'proper' professional and overall he has been one of the first names on the sheet despite being a limited footballer attacking wise. I do not know exactly why he has been benched but he has started the season slowly and, perhaps, the Manager wants a more forward thinking midfielder than Field at this current time. It is all about choices and the Manager wants Varane in that role and the Team to play a little differently. I am sure he will get a run in the Team in due course. Posters should not be disrespectful to Field, he is 'proper' - a credit to himself & the Club. |
Gazza.... I know you mentioned recently uneducated supporters on this MB I think you may just have stumbled across one
