Nourry In? 12:00 - Sep 15 with 4638 views | StanleyB | Have we had a good transfer window – both in and out? Have we finally solved the notoriously tricky striker issue on a shoestring budget? Things aren’t perfect, and results might not always hit the heights we’d like, but 'the project' seems to be working: high-quality players are choosing QPR when they had plenty of other options, and the squad we’ve got now is one most of us could only have dreamed of when Nourry arrived. At what point do we start chanting “Nourry In”?

Nourry In? on 14:35 - Sep 15 by nix | Would be nice not to lurch from villain to hero and back again based on the last two matches. My views remain the same: some very promising aspects and some disappointing/worrying ones. Most excited about the emphasis on youth, particularly in the development squad. Still impossible to fully compare his two years with Les's ten years. |
I agree with this. It's neither heaven nor hell, some really good stuff, some less so. One thing I do think is apparent is that Nourry and those around him are open to adaptation this season more than before, they take on reasonable criticism and apparently adapt. That's really hopeful. (Posts on message boards from first time posters titled Nourry In? on the back of two wins are really unhelpful and disquieting though) However, I don't think we ever can/should compare Nourry with Ferdinand's commission: they are dealing with entirely different circumstances, radically different clubs in terms of finances, infrastructure - both physical and at board level - and identity. The QPR that CN took over is only in with a fighting chance because of the extremely thankless and dirty work that LF/LH did in the face of a world record fine, FFP snooker and board room foolishness. CN entered a club with FFP headroom, a brand new training ground and without Tony Fernandes grandstanding in the background, Harry Redknapp sulking in the foreground or any Joey Bartons. Totally different job ahead of him.

I love this comment I've now got an image of Stanley B sitting in bed, typing his post one handed, while stroking off Noury with the other.

Only in your head. | | | |

"Shoestring budget" feels a bit like a stretch though. Other than the mad Harry Redknapp trolley dash this has to be one of the most expensive transfer windows in our history I'd imagine, albeit net spend is a lot more reasonable because it's offset by the Eze and Kelman money
