| Life in the jumble - Preview on 09:33 - Oct 22 with 2639 views | TheChef | Cheers Clive! I'm not surprised Coventry are doing well - Lampard has just picked up where Robins left off with a decent settled squad, I'd expect them to get promotion. Beyond them, who knows. Championship innit. | |

| Life in the jumble - Preview on 10:03 - Oct 22 with 2507 views | Burnleyhoop | We will not get a better opportunity to reach the play offs than this season. The three relegated teams are no great shakes, only Coventry look like a sure thing and we have the best squad since Warnock. JS needs to get a grip of this team and show some bravery. The Frey experiment needs to be assigned to the trash bin and we need to be going all out for two wholly winnable games. Swansea and Derby are there for the taking. No pussy footing around, go at them both with everything we have got. A great opportunity has presented itself this season, the stars have aligned. Let’s get this done. | | | |

| Life in the jumble - Preview on 10:08 - Oct 22 with 2449 views | Rsole | Thanks Clive. The jumble reference reminded me of the old Bring and Buy events of my misspent youth (sponsored by Blue Peter Odemwingie, no less) Let’s hope we bring the right team and buy some points this evening because it looks like we are playing in the pink monstrosity and that gives me cataracts. | |

| Life in the jumble - Preview on 10:14 - Oct 22 with 2404 views | terryb | With speculation on Championship managers job prospects, I'm wondering if Mckenna is as safe as he should be. Three months ago he could do no wrong , but with expectations as they now are, I can see discontent starting. I do expect him to discontinue playing his second team in midweek matches. Hopefully he will move that to the first game of three on November 1st! | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Yeah I thought that was really weird looking at Ipswichs line up before the game, a big risk which didn't work, there's no way I would leave Philogene on the bench if he's fit but then his argument is that he has to manage the squad and players loading I guess.

Totally agree with you. With Chair and Poku nearly back to full fitness and availability we are stocked with talent at midfield and striker. Use our best XI. Frey okay to play out games but too slow afoot to keep up with this up-tempo offense.

He made 7 changes last night & 8 at Bristol City for a midweek game.

Frey should only rotate with Kone not play with him. Not fair on either of them otherwise. Field should rotate with Varane/Hayden not Madsen or play LCB.

I think it’s really that simple, isn’t it ? If we can see it, why does it seem less obvious to the decision makers. Are they too close to the players to see it perhaps. Surely they can simulate it in training or just simply watch the games where it didn’t work previously. Head scratching when you have this current luxury of availability.

Kone was clearly getting frustrated on Saturday. Hope he shares those frustrations with his manager.

I think we’ll probably use 3 in midfield at some point and Field could be used as the advanced midfielder in a press too. With Madsen/Morgan and Varane/Hayden playing deeper.
| Life in the jumble - Preview on 11:46 - Oct 22 with 2037 views | thehat | Thanks Clive - Great analysis of the current state of affairs in The Championship with some hilarious sound bites added too. Cracking assist from our friend Sinclair Armstrong last night and he even managed to stay onside although if you slow it down even that was marginal. Anyway safe travels to everyone heading into the depths of Wales on a Wednesday night in October. I salute each and every one of you. I will be watching at home in front of the fire with the kids shouting at the TV as per usual. | | | |

I think for Millwall, Stephan didn't feel like he had any option. Didn't think Burrell was fit enough to start and didn't trust Kolli to start (not really sure why on either count). And Chair and Poku only just back to fitness. Anyway, hopefully he has learned you don't play Kone and Frey together!

You'd have thought so. Also tell Dembele not to shoot. I think it's because he's trying from impossible angles but he's made the second most shots (16) and not scored. It's a waste of decent positions. For comparison Kone has scored 4 from 21, Smyth 2 from 4 and Burrell 2 from 12.

Unfortunately I don't think Dembele takes anything on board.

True. Also, one shot fell to him on the edge of the box on Saturday and he rushed it, not even waiting for it to drop right. Went high, wide and handsome. Maybe rusty? Maybe lacking in confidence? Maybe trying too hard?

I think you're right, probably mostly trying too hard but if I were Julien I'd say that a regular positive pass to someone in a better shooting position is more valuable than the once a season worldy.

| Life in the jumble - Preview on 12:42 - Oct 22 with 1785 views | Wilkinswatercarrier | Anyone else feel that the top of the Championship has closed the gap on the bottom half of the PL? Several clubs now in the Championship that have got their act together, us included, and several PL teams who are now absolute dross. Any of the bottom 10 in the PL would not look out of place in the Championship, except Newcastle. It is poor. Just a 1-0 tonight would be lovely. | |

Mbengue & Burrell (& possibly Field), and we have a chance of making amends after the loss on Saturday. Make excuses why we need to rest our best players and we will suffer accordingly.

In fairness, Demebele scored some crackers preseason but he’s either trying too hard (when shooting) or not really trying at all (when tracking back). There’s a player there somewhere amongst the cramp and judgement calls. We just didn’t find the right one at the right time - yet. Right now, he’s really an impact sub in the later stages of a game when we are chasing it. Not a bad option from the bench against tired legs.
