Jamie Mackie is close to being one of my all time favourites, you can't train or teach enthusiasm and sheer determination, if he had all the attributes people say he's missing he probably wouldn't be at QPR.

Apart from his well deserved contract extension the thing that delights me is we now have an experienced Management team that has recognised this boy's ability.
This very same management team along with the presumed transfer funds are in place and ready to go for the new season.
Hughes and his team will bring JM along don't you worry about that.
I read into JM's contract extension as the first part of the jigsaw puzzle being put into place.
Strewth, there are exciting times ahead for us fans, that's the way I see It anyway.
I'm delighted for JM, he deserves what he's got.

My Father had a profound influence on me, he was a lunatic.

Hard to believe the nonsense that was spouted about him by some earlier in the season.

I'm pleased to see the club have rewarded him, simply because even after all his efforts this season, you are never really sure if he is going to feature heavily in Mark Hughes' long term plans.

For Hughes, he perhaps has been pleasantly surprised by how effective hard work and a top attitude can have. The fact that he displaced a high profile name like Shaun Wright-Phillips who Hughes had worked with before says a lot really and also proves that Hughes doesn't have favourites when it comes to team selection.

Still my pick for Player of the Year, he had an outstanding campaign.

Really? It'd take 'some player' to put Mackie on the bench?

Robert Huth might as well have put Mackie on the bench, he could have taken him there in his pocket.

Be fair, Huth is an absolute monster. He's got a 7 inch height advantage over Mackie for starters. I can't think of many players who could best him physically. And just watch what he said to Mackie during the line-up before KO.

Absolutely delighted. Top man!

We now have a management team that seem to have everything they need to take the team forward. Its amazing. I keep expecting something to go wrong, and instead it keeps going right.

The season isn't over for a week and they have already signed Hill and Mackie up for contract extensions. I am adding that to the Academy and the training ground as evidence that this lot are more than just good words.

I strongly disagree that Mackie will be "found out" next season. There is nothing gimicky in Mackie's game. There is nothing really to be "found out". It is true that Huth outplayed him a few weeks ago. You win some, you lose some. Huth had a great game and well done to the lad. (I can say that now, with the benefit of hindsight.) There haven't been many who have been able to hold Jamie down for 90 minutes. So it happened once. I'm sure Jamie will be itching to get back out there and take another shot at Huth. I wouldn't put a fiver on Huth having that good a game when the two meet again.

So well done to that man Jamie and well done to all the management team. Happy days indeed!

Mackie 26, his best years are ahead of him. Strikers sometimes mature late, if he works on his first touch and control he will be one of our all time better players. Love his work ethic and his never giving up. A good man.

Well done Mackie. Fully deserved!! Your commitment, effort and performaces have been rewarded.

I'm assuming Nov77 can't get to a PC just now....would've thought he'd be full of praise and congratulation for Our Jamie!!

He leads by example in my book...he's enthusiastic, he works effing hard, knocks up plenty of miles per game, has been one (of not many) who looked liked they actually up for EVERY game and he is always brave - not worried about sticking his head in a space where a boot is coming in...by virtue of not having many other options is that not armband material?

I still remember reading the Plymouth fans' comments when we bought him. They had just been relegated from the Championship, we'd just been rescued by Warnock from the same fate. They all loved his desire, but were in the main thought Warnock was off his rocker. He was barely even getting in their team.

But there was one stubborn Argyle fan who said 'mark my words, that boy's going to rock the Premiership one day' and even put a bet on him to be top scorer in the division that year at 50-1- which, until he broke his leg, was even looking on.

I bet said Plymouth fan has been loving Mackie destroying Evra, humiliating Assou-Ekoto, almost scoring the season defining goal etc.

He's been a complete revelation, a victory of attitude, application, strength and spirit over natural ability. A lesson and inspiration to us all.

And fair play to Scottish international Jamie for doing that. I hope i never once slated Jamie (any QPR player), but i certainly wouldn't have held him up as our best player either.

Having watched him for a second season, though, i must give him full credit, he's doing just as well in the premiership as he ever did in the championship.

He obviously is a pretty good player. And he's a huge boost to the crowd as he's so easy to cheer for. He is a little talisman for us, alongside Clint Hill, Taarabt and, perhaps, Cisse.

If we swapped Hill, Derry, Kenny, Mackie for several more soulless mercenaries it would be upsetting. They have been, without question, the heart of our team this last two years.
