Mackie contract extension on 10:45 - May 16 by ElHoop | Great news. We should keep him forever, or for as long as he's playing anyway. I think he's the sort of guy who will always be a Hoop. Players will come and go but you need a few who look like they're really really 'ours'. |
"We should keep him forever..." In a small cupboard?

Really? It'd take 'some player' to put Mackie on the bench? Robert Huth might as well have put Mackie on the bench, he could have taken him there in his pocket.

It's a shame the season's over, because usually when people on here start writing Mackie off he immediately scores another important goal for us.

To be fair Huth was one of the few players that Mackie really struggled to get any change out of, but I doubt he's the first. However, since getting back into the team following SWP dropping out, he's been a different player and is a great player to have in our squad give his energy levels, his commitment, attitude and his finishing ability.
| |
Mackie contract extension on 13:35 - May 16 with 2004 views | Charlie1 | Huth assulted Mackie three times and used the elbow once. He doesn't have the greatest touch or finishing ability but he continues to improve. Why? Right attitude to life and the game / Rangers. What he maybe lacks in skill he makes up for endeavour. That has a place in any team and should never be under estimated. He's full of running and energy which has created opportunities for himself and others. Ryan Giggs just won best Prem player ever in some gay Man U love in award. Watch how many times Giggs hits the first defender from a corner, wastes a free kick or chance. Treatment of Mackie at times on here is ludicrous. A player who fully deserves his song, adulation, respect and a new contract. Keep improving Jamie, I hope you do because then you'll remain in the first 11.

Clive some " people on here" are simply not for turning. Jamie Makcie is a QPR legend in a relatively tough tough time for our club. He has had plenty of detractors and managed to do his talking on the field. This is really great news all round , for some another reason to moan. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
Mackie contract extension on 13:36 - May 16 with 1999 views | Jamie | Still think we should be adding Luke Freeman as a left wing 'Mackie' 20 years old, two footed, quick, skillful. 24 games, 7 goals, 8 assists and never stops running. [Post edited 1 Jan 1970 1:00]

I assume by people you mean me - hence quoting my post Northern? Not that you ever address me directly. I like Jamie Mackie a lot and I admire his commitment - I just don't think has the skills to be our first choice right winger / forward if we want to consistently beat teams. He is a centre forward for a start.

No you're not the only one, but your post there is the sort that is usually immediately followed by a Mackie goal
Mackie contract extension on 13:45 - May 16 with 1971 views | WestbourneR | Fair point. I said as much under my 'humble pie' post about Mackie earlier this week. In fact I am using in the middle of saying he is too limited during a game when he scores. Actually I said drop him for the City game! So maybe I should shut up... My thing about Mackie is he comes alive in the box, he is such a goal threat and has a great shot - like at Blackburn. But out wide doesn't play to his strengths in fact it plays to his weaknesses - poor delivery and running down blind alleys with his head down.

er...lets play our recognised right winger SWP, er....maybe not - or Puncheon. Mackie deserves his extension - has been magnificent in the run in.

But since we've been picking him wide instead of SWP our results have improved considerably, and he's been excellent. When he came off the bench at Blackburn and Spurs he turned lost causes into close run things. He's brilliant, just accept it

Mackie contract extension on 14:28 - May 16 with 1924 views | Monahoop | Great news. As some have already commented, not the most skilful of players, but he makes up for that with bucket loads of stamina, graft and determination, traits I really like in a player. A real gem. Now ranks as one of my top 10 QPR players.

Mackie contract extension on 14:36 - May 16 with 1918 views | WestbourneR | AAAAAAHHHHHH I. just. can't. accept. it. I have to come to terms with the fact technical ability is far from everything. It does drive me mad when he runs off with his head down on a rubbish dribble. But it makes me happy when scores all the time. Ok I'll grant Mackie the role as impact sub.
| |
Mackie contract extension on 14:58 - May 16 with 1885 views | TacticalR | It's true that Mackie sometimes pushes the ball too far ahead and then tries to bulldoze through opposition players (or perhaps he gambles that he will come out of a ruck of opposition players with the ball), but he does seem to have a very cool head in the box. We saw that on Sunday when time stood still and the 'tattooed goose' scored his glorious header.

Mackie contract extension on 15:05 - May 16 with 1873 views | cheeseydane | Excellent news. He was a unknown entity this season to other prem teams, and i think he caught a few of them by suprise. Lets face it, premierdefences are not often faced with such enthusiasm, determination, fitness and sheer willpower,( as well as a cracking finish) from opposing players. I think next season may be a little tougher for him, as opposing teams try and find ways of keeping him in check, although i would never not back JM to suceed. Cracking player and demonstrates, much that is missing with modern day premiership football.
| Technology advances, unfortunately humans do not. |

Spot on Clive I cannot understand this feint praise ... JM has been brilliant all year ..I wish we had 11 players with his heart & ability 100% ranger who should start not be " on the bench"

not as bad as Cisse Mackie has a special quality called enthusiasm. Combined with the ability he does have and his physical strength he is a very effective player for us. After Cisse he is probably the best finisher too; you can always rely on him to get a shot in however tight the situation is. as for prem teams sussing him out I doubt that will happen too soon. How do you suss genuine hard work and a never say die attitude? from his first game we could all see limitations that might prevent him being top draw; but for the life of me I can't imagine that Jamie has seen them and probably wouldn't give a fukk if he did. I love Jamie for having & being everything that players like Adele don't; he is one of the few players that kids see and believe in that they can actually become a professional footballer. He genuinely looks like he's won a competition and gets to play football on a Saturday in front of us; that makes me smile. [Post edited 1 Jan 1970 1:00]

Where did I say that i was an expert ffs??? And I wasnt aiming it at you. Unless you were that prat in the Adey? Too many come on here claiming to know so much about how to play this player, how to play that player etc. I just turn up every Saturday and watch and enjoy. So no, I dont actually know a huge amount about football and I dont always call it right. Now try and read the fecking post before you start popping at me.
