Obviously nothing happened then with Readings mooted bid of a cut price 2.5million?!
On paper he's a young, fit proven (28 last season) goalscorer with no injury issues over the last few seasons. However, you just can't help but worry about the quote from Steve Bruce after the transfer to Hull fell through, "These medicals are so stringent, things have progressed with scans and all the rest of it and he has got a problem."
So will he pass the famous QPR medical? And will we have a strikeforce of Austin, Zamora and AJ to score the goals to keep us in the league/obtain midtable obscurity/take us back to the promised land*.
I hope we sign him. He's young, fit and proven at this level and there's just no way we could be unlucky enough for him to get injured...

I'm staying nice and loose on this one but I do hope he signs, and ideally not in a tedious drawn out way.
I'm not quite sure who he'd be better playing with - Zamora can, if conscious hold it up and possibly create some space for him but he and Andy Johnson could be a real handful. |  | | |

Being a QPR fan you can never be accused of being over optimistic and have to worry that he failed that Hull medical but if he could get 20+ goals it could easily be the difference in auto promotion or certainly play offs.
We'll need to be able to nick games where things aren't going our way and he seems to fit the bill in that dept. |  | | |

my problem with this is if we sign him and he starts on saturday we have learned nothing from the last 2 seasons - Bobby Z and AJ have played together regularly in pre-season and they should be the starting front line IMO for saturday. A new signing can come on as a sub but to throw a new signing straight in just follows what we've done over last two years, smacks of desperation and just shows how bland our approach to tactics is. |  | | |
