Great idea James and I would suggest also that they could be redeemable preference shares. I guess there are a good few fans with "spare" money in a building society earning a paltry amount of interest that might now consider investing in the club given the current ownership structure. Many fans pumped a lot of their hand earned cash into the club over recent years. I think its fair to say the vast majority if not all of them fully accepted that their "investment" was actually more of a donation. Whilst a redeemable preference share issue wouldn't be without risk for "investors" it would IMHO be an acceptable risk whilst providing equity funding for the club at a favourable cost. |

I believe our Etan has gone on a season long loan to Exeter |

To the many decent Oldham fans, congratulations and good luck next season. To the not insignificant number of Biffos, good riddance. You won't be missed and we'll save a lot of money on police costs next season |
 | Forum Reply | Election of new Trust main board director at 12:43 28 May 2025
There were 17 people who voted against the appointment of a Trust Director so I guess a few of them would welcome a meeting. There were also 273 people who opened the email but for whatever reason chose not to vote - a few no doubt abstained because they didn't have enough detail to make a binary decision - no doubt a good few of those would welcome a meeting. Getting 35 people to request an EGM shouldn't be a problem. What is the purpose of an EGM? Well it gives everyone an opportunity to clear the air, to refocus and clarify objectives and to increase the effectiveness of the Trust. The CAB is a fantastic initiative but it does not and should never replace the Trust. We need a strong Trust to continue moving forward - one of the elephants in the room is the Golden Share which still remains outstanding and needs to be resolved. My name can be added to the list. |

Thanks to the OP for starting this thread - its rightly generating valuable debate, not just about a Trust Board Director but about the the whole focus / remit / constitution of the Trust itself and how it could /should work alongside CAB. At the end of the day we are all Dale, we all want the best for the club. I fully acknowledge that Trust Board members put in many hours voluntarily (some a lot more than others). I do however feel that the Trust has lost its way somewhat in recent months. IMHO we need a strong Trust to challenge the Club Directors where appropriate and to focus the efforts of the fanbase for the good of the club. One thing I would say and it has been said already is that the "job description" and "criteria" for nominating a Trust Board Director seems to have been written to discourage nominations and dare I say make sure that certain people who do not meet the extensive criteria cannot nominate themselves. Could it be that the Trust Board have already decided who the next Trust Board Director will be? I hope not but have to say it smells a bit like that to me. |

Steadied the ship but missed opportunities (and I mean big opportunities!) Jury still out for many on whether JM is the man to take us forward or has taken us as far as he can. |

I've no proof that that was the case but I strongly suspect that that happened. Suffice to say at the time the clubs audited accounts were qualified to the extent that (and I paraphrase) ....... "there are inadequate records in respect of the income and expenditure details relating to the Radcliffe Arms" and "we have not received all the information and explanations we require to complete our audit". I raised this as an issue at the AGM and was assured that this had been addressed. Needless to say the auditors made the same qualification in the following years account. I have no doubt there were some dodgy dealings going on over that period. Good riddance. |

Devastated. Joe was an inspiration both on and off the pitch. He was a big part of the most successful period in the clubs history. He was and will always be part of the Dale family. As already said, a true legend. Condolences to his wife and children and all his family. You are in our thoughts and prayers, RIP Joe. |
