There's a rumour going round that Barcelona have given Atletico fans 447 seats for the titile deciding game tomorrow. In a 98,000 seat stadium....

Bear in mind these two countries have some mighty long awaydays that make us going to Newcastle look like a pop down the road. There's some great stories in Tim Parks' book 'A Season With Verona' about their hardcore meeting for overnight mini bus journeys to southern away matches.

I was on holiday in Puglia a couple of years back and went to see Bari host Juve - Juve must have had several thousand there, I know they're bit like Man U and there are probably 'Puglian Juve' like there are cockney reds, but still quite impressive - they weren't too happy when Bari won, mind...

Ya, well impressed with that.

Spanish fans don't travel to away games because they see it as lining the pockets of another team.

Mourinho slated Real Madrid fans and couldn't understand the mentality.

I doubt Real Madrid or Barcelona have a higher away support than QPR. One of the better travelled teams is Malaga I believe which probably has something to do with their large ex pat following.

I was in Madrid the day of the Atletico v Barcelona CL semi final. Encountered one tiny group of Barca fans having a beer close to the Plaza Mayor. Not a sniff of any elsewhere in the city centre all day. Now whilst there were a fair few at the game itself even my wife commented on the lack if presence of away support. I've seen QPR take over northern towns in a more impressive fashion in the 3rd Division (Lee Camp's debut at Hartlepool is a prime example). Different world.

In reply to Northolt.

Is the correct answer.

The infrastructure aint up to much either, and that's the main problem. The trains are shyte and take two days to do 20 miles, coaches on shit roads take twice as long too. Culturally also they wont line the pockets of another region/club. I wanted to see Mbia at Seville, about 400 km away, but it is near impossible to get there from Almeria without going via Madrid/nightmare. Would be cheaper and less time consuming to fly back into Heathrow and fly out to Seville. And all roads are lined with the Guardia Civil, Francos personal Army, anything but civil, waiting to fine you for breathing. Some things do not change...

So it's a bit fcked up here. Barca are anything but media darlings inside Spain, regarded as anti Spanish pariahs. The fireworks and partying in the streets tonight just to celebrate them losing was amazing.

Brighton, you should have gone down to the Estadio Mediteraneo to see M'bia with your Rangers short on. You never know he may have spotted you and given you his shirt at the end!

I know, many things missed, football, women...but it's a learning curve. Pretty impressive new Stadium at Murcia too.
