Flitcroft and Futcher sacked on 18:48 - Nov 19 by robbowood | Now 14 conceded goals in 3 games - the last time apparently was 60 years ago (15 goals in 3 games in their 1956-57 relegation season). You can't blame F & F for today ! |

Can't believe more isn't being made of how he shifted his stance from the video, how his words were full of total nonsense. Trying to claim he was trying to give the team confidence is laughable and insulting too. Flitcroft should think very carefully about the impact this farce has had on his career.

We were discussing this, on paper he looks like a good manager. Analysis of his time at both Barnsley and Bury illustrates that's really not the case.

Barnsley; Smallest budget in the division caught up with him Bury: Platoon style injuries Or Bury: Put all of their eggs in a few high waged baskets, with no young players coming through as any decent ones sold to Scousers and a load of average players. When injuries came, the answer there was none.

I'm sure Whitey will be along to give more detailed analysis than I ever could, but Flitcroft's time at Barnsley was an incredible disappointment totally of his own making. That great escape was on the back of creating a remarkable team spirit amongst a squad of players who, while not the most talented, had it in them to survive in the Championship - they needed the belief which Flitcroft gave them. Then when the next season came he made a right mess of it. Showed an inability to recruit effectively (outside of the now familiar 'player collecting) and persisted with people out of form week after week. What he did at Bury needs looking at more closely too - that he had, and was allowed to have, Clarke, Pope, Hope, Rose, Lowe and Nardiello all at the club is really quite frightening. What manager would think that was an effective use of whatever resources he had at his disposal? One look at what they have at the back this season is another example of a manager who struggles identifying where potential issues lie, and one who relies on bringing someone else in on top of what there already is to solve a problem. The young players thing is something else he can take some blame for too. Every time he chose to have a bench of less than seven players was an insult to whatever youth system they have in place. It's not hard to stick a couple of kids on the bench, something perfectly illustrated by Dale on Tuesday night. Unless you start bringing these players through by giving them a chance, there's literally no point in them being there. He'll get another job, maybe it'll be somewhere with limited resources which could stand him in good stead going forward. He'll certainly have to change if he's to succeed long-term.

Flitcroft and Futcher sacked on 08:21 - Nov 20 with 2081 views | pnc4eva1 | Off the Beardyman board. Absolutely superb bit of fantasy throughout "Just a quick review of what was said at the meeting. It has a hard decision to sack Flitcroft especially after his interview but he felt he took us as far as he could. He is aware of the injury crisis but the squad we have and the team against Southend he felt we should of won the game. He also spoke to the players on Thursday and told them away they were sacked, and they need to shoulder some of the blame and they need to go away and think about if they want to play for the club. If they don't he will happily cancel there contracts and he expects alot more from them. He provides championship training facilities and away travel like coming down on the train yesterday and going back today on the train. The new ground is being drawn up at the moment. Land has been decided but could say the location due to ongoing negotiation with the land owners. The supporters and Bury public will be consulted throughout the process as he wanted it to be leisure park as well. When asked about filling the new ground based on current attendances he said attendances go up on average by 36% with a new ground. We have been hosting games and loosing money. He is also targeting the large number of away supporters as Bolton for example could of sold double what they did but couldn't as GMP wouldn't allow it as we are single entry into the ground. The young 15 year old has gone to Liverpool but waiting for visa to be sorted before it can be made official. We have made £1m through the youth set up which is the most in over 18 years. Day goes to the buying club and wants to know there care plan to make sure the player gets into the first team to protect us so we get the add on's. We turned down serval clubs for players because they didn't match up to how he felt they should be treated. We also have at least four more exciting players who are we have bids for including a 13 year old who scored a hat trick for the under 16's. We turned away four bids so far as they wasn't in the players or our best interests. Ryan Kidd also turned down six other offers over the summer has he believes in our youth and it's the best in the country. Carrington is the best business decision we have made and is finance sustainable due to not having to keep hiring other facilities like Bolton and The Cliff which we had to use after the clubs have finished. It also helps attract players like Leon Clarke and James Vaughan to the club. We have had over 70 applicants for the managers job which he is going through, some currently in jobs however it has to be the right person for the club. Dave Flictcroft didn't apply for the job, Day went out and got him. Realistic target for the season is 6th which he thinks is still achievable and Championship within two years .

I can believe 70 applicants, with the amount of out of work managers that be the same anywhere. Fantasy about YT fees they are fixed if sold before 16. Chesterfield are now finding out the troubles of building a new ground. Coventry haven't benefitted and there's always Darlo.
