There has been some eminent health care specialists saying today that the NHS is simply not getting enough PPE that it requires to protect it’s staff adequately from this deadly virus.
One of them said that some hospitals have had to depend on the public to supply them with this equipment.
It’s a shameful state of affairs and the government seem to be in denial regarding this matter. |  | | |

But in fairness, she couldn’t answer the question that was posed because that would be an admission that THEY have caused the deaths. Which they are never going to admit, whether true or not.
Every NHS death requires a full, independent investigation after the event. A FULL investigation.

I personally found Hancock worse yesterday when he couldn’t answer how many NHS staff had died. I found the Chief Nurse even worse when she couldn’t answer it. That was after wondering how the hell she’d managed to have a new hairstyle. | | | |

The first thing anyone should do, is hold their hands up when they get it wrong. I've had to do it in my job, and the company I work for has had to do it as well.
It's common decency to do so.

This virus is horrifying' If pressed on PPE she could have just said 'I'm afraid I don't have any proof or otherwise of your assertions', as it surely isn't going to go away. Effectively palm it off to Johnno, and Hancock. This for once really isn't down to the loathsome snake Patel. I didn't see it, but they should have gone after her at full throttle on immigration and key workers. | |

Of course it does. But SHE can’t do that today. That’s the only point I’m making.
I think, the way that these investigations go, an apology would be seen as an admission that they could have done better.
That’s the issue really. It’s not that the shortage of PPE isn’t a disgrace, it’s whether it realistically could have been done differently given the situation. All countries seem to be saying similar things to us. The bit I think that they are absolutely culpable for, is that my understanding is that companies like Burberry volunteered weeks ago to manufacture gowns and that they weren’t taken up on it. Without testing and tracing in place the reason can never be established. I'm sure that this government will use their inadequate preparation as a positive, for themselves at least.

Hancock is the one that has to be pressed on this. Not her. I can’t stand her, but she can’t stand there and admit culpability.
The question was framed as a gotcha to be honest. It was ‘will you apologise for the deaths caused by your failures to provide proper PPE’ (words to that effect). By saying she apologised if anyone believed that was the case she probably went further than the others have done. Hancock keeps saying it’s not an issue, or if it is, it’s the fault of staff using it inappropriately. That’s far worse. | | | |
