Some teachers never stopped. Schools have been partly open throughout. In other countries they're already open. In some they never closed in the first place. Not hearing of any major issues anywhere.
At some point those in the lowest risk groups are going to have to get back to it. Waiting at home for a vaccine or treatment that may never come is simply not an option. That will lead to more problems than the virus.
If retail workers, bus drivers, security guards, care workers or umpteen other professions can be back working with all the same things to deal with, professional footballers likely to be tested twice a week and receive the best of physical/medical care can certainly consider it.

It's a tricky one. The only argument and balance I can see to resume professional football sooner than later, in parallel with some of the jobs etc. mentioned, is the short and longer term economic and hardship impact of clubs going out of business if they don't resume anytime soon. I'm not sure what that picture looks like, i.e. zero or low crowd attendance, TV money etc..
Otherwise playing football (and other contact sports) would be difficult to justify or prioritise alongside other key roles in society imho. As someone has said, it's CV-19's capability for onward transmission that's the bigger risk - 10 transmissions and it's 59,000 versus 14 with the 'flu. |  | | |

Yes my post was tongue in cheek after stating that I thought it was not unreasonable to expect teachers to resume with smaller classes and Staggered starts lunch breaks and got criticised on here for it.

Maybe the families of bus drivers and care workers who have died will disagree.
It's a difficult decision, we all want to get back to some kind of normal but we have to mitigate the risks too. Footballers won't be wearing any PPE or have perspex shields between them.
There are moe important sectors to get back to work than sport and if it's not safe for all business to open up why is it safe for a contact sport? Bearing in mind that even if you beat Covid there could be long term problems,

That's the reason for the testing, and to get things moving as safely as possible, the alternative is to keep everything shut down and to continue to let all the people who can not get access to early diagnosis and treatment of far more serious diseases because of the lockdown to lose there lives and in the meantime continue to destroy the economy and all the other nightmares this lockdown is going to bring. | | | |
