Swansea City v Plymouth Argyle : Matchday Thread AFTERMATH 19:00 - Aug 22 with 13826 views | NotLoyal | It’s the competition Swansea City won in very recent times, so we hope for a decent run this season with a new manager and coaching staff. Cardiff on the other hand have much more success, in 1927; they won the FA Cup but nobody is alive today who watched the game. This incessant fixation, this wanting to be bigger than Swansea can’t work when you are not. Plymouth are underdogs, however this will be a classic tight cup game, it’s unlikely the winners will score more than the odd goal in three to clinch passage in to round three. Whittaker has had a raw deal. It would be ludicrous for him to be nobbed off. Cullen would not have done what he did tonight. Rethink it Russy

Swansea City v Plymouth Argyle : Matchday Thread TEAMS âš½ï¸ on 21:46 - Aug 24 with 1870 views | Treforys_Jack | Highly enjoyable game, Lowe anonymous all game, then picks up the ball on the halfway line, outpaces his marker all the way to the edge of the area, cuts inside and lays it on a plate for Whittaker. He is an enigma that's for sure, they looked on completely different wavelengths for most of the game, then he produces that bit of absolute class. Pilgrims looked the better side after the break and was no surprise when they equalized, they could have easily had another before the Morgan Whittaker show. Hope the lad really pushes on and makes it very difficult for RM to drop him. On a side note, Ethan Laird is going to be huge, we need to enjoy this lad while he's here., absolute diamond. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
Swansea City v Plymouth Argyle : Matchday Thread TEAMS âš½ï¸ on 21:52 - Aug 24 with 1803 views | DwightYorkeSuperstar | Jamal Lowe is truly abysmal as a centre forward. He was at fault for their goal - a Swansea player cleared the ball almost inch perfect to where he was standing. He backs off and lets the ball bounce, the defender wins the ball and they subsequently score from the dispossession. All match he was trying to make idiotic runs in behind their defence that even David Beckham wouldn't have been able to pick out. The one time he dropped deep for the ball, midway into the second half, he created space for Whittaker who then scored. Then, Lowe and behold, Jamal Lowe, who has played as a winger for all of his professional career, receives the ball on the wing and does tremendously well to create a second goal for Whittaker. Why on Earth we continue to play Lowe as a centre forward bemuses me.

Great win 4 goals scored and yet Dwighty's highlight is to bring negativity to the table. F.k my eyes.

I can we won and scored 4 goals in doing so, Lowe could have had a hattrick of goals and assists, but dwight would find negativity in his performance.

Swansea City v Plymouth Argyle : Matchday Thread TEAMS âš½ï¸ on 22:20 - Aug 24 with 1623 views | WalterBoyd | Dan William's had a fantastic match. Tired a little as match went on but overall tremendous. He loves a tackle. Joseph did not disappoint. The two of them always looked to create, closed down opposition, created space to receive a pass. Wanted the ball. Up until Whittakers hat trick, the front 3 of Lowe, Dhanda and Whittaker looked uninspiring all game, then it all changed. As Dwight said - Lowe's run down the wing was a breath of fresh air from him, he wasn't enjoying up until then. Dhanda very poor. I'll leave it there. We controlled majority of the match. Should have scored more first half, Plymouth were there for the taking. Their equaliser gave them a lift. Whittakers hat trick very well taken and a confidence boost for him. An enjoyable evening, we passed well.

Although I only listened on Swans TV, that's pretty much exactly what I heard. Ian Walsh was fairly critical of Whittaker and Lowe, and very critical of Dhanda. He changed his tune after the Lowe/Whittaker show but I understood what he meant i.e. that we expect more from them. I'm done with Dhanda. You'd think, in a game like that against inferior opposition, that he'd step up and show what he's made of - and have enough quality to run the show. And try and impress the manager along the way (in the way that Whittaker did eventually).
Swansea City v Plymouth Argyle : Matchday Thread TEAMS âš½ï¸ on 22:39 - Aug 24 with 1545 views | magicdaps10 | Dan Williams, always looking for the ball and put 2 really solid tackles in... Looks a decent player. I agree with Dwight on Lowe, can't play off the last man, needs to play off a proper 9... Ideally dropping off and linking between that fellow striker and LWB allowing him to turn and play with defenders in front of him rather than his back to them. Whittaker took his goals well but he needs to stop dropping deep as he just slows the play up and wants too many touches.

Swansea City v Plymouth Argyle : Matchday Thread TEAMS âš½ï¸ on 22:43 - Aug 24 with 1515 views | WalterBoyd | Lowe and Whittaker tried all game, alot didn't come off until the hat trick. Dhanda was very poor. Did not make himself available for a pass for majority of match, skipped out of tackles. In contrast, if you had seen Dan William's tackling- wow- he took his opportunity to impress.
Swansea City v Plymouth Argyle : Matchday Thread TEAMS âš½ï¸ on 22:56 - Aug 24 with 1441 views | Badlands | I thought Williams had a bit of the Leon about him, always looking for the ball and knowing where he was gong to play it off without taking 10 touches and looking around before playing backward. Plymouth really didn't offer much apart from a solid and crowded defence but they did break quickly something we didn't do until after their equaliser (fair play a good goal). Joseph looks like he'll shine very impressed. Bennet did a solid job and Naughton's class showed the instant he came on. Fulton and Bidwell were decent and I thought Dhanda had a good game. Lowe is going to struggle but played Whittaker in well for one. Whittaker got some joy out wide and took his goals well. Manning pretty much proved the comment I made on another thread - an awful half of football (but could be MOM next game) and Latty was not a 100 miles behind him. Hamer put a distance between himself and the goal line so I am assuming that is the new coaching regime's preferred approach. TBH disappointed with Plymouth, we had a handsome win with out hitting top gear.

Thought Dhanda did ok myself, quite a decent game, though he did appear to pull out of a tackle right in front of the East stand which invited a few expletives.

Easy to overlook due to the league they are in but they are a fairly strong side. Credit to the team he put out but I’d like to think should we pull out one of the big boys we would go with an even stronger one. Really would like a cup run.

TBH I thought they were weak and we didn’t make the most of the difference in individual ability and team work to tage advantage early on. Delighted with the result and 4 in any game is brilliant. Well done to Whittaker
