I don’t think it reflects very well on Martin’s coaching style. The last few games Laird was starting to look like a rabbit in the headlights. Didn’t know how to go forwards, and didn’t help Bennett in defence. And because RM has only one master plan, which is PLAN A- (3 at the back) he couldn’t drop him because he doesn’t have a right wing back back replacement. and was never going to revert to a back 4.
You need a good engine and speed to fit RM’s wingback system, good luck with finding one of them at the drop of a hat.
Where have we got any speed for that matter?

No issue for me, Man U go5 a better offer from Bournemouth so they pulled him back & shipped him on - wasn’t his decision & whilst I’m sure he could have dug his heals in & mouthed off why would he do that, not professional to do so & he now has two shots at getting to the EPL for next season.

If your playing 3 defensive midfielders in front of a makeshift back three the ball is never going to get forward quickly enough to give players like Laird that extra yard advantage. Poor management I’m afraid and I like RM. |  |
