Contract option taken for Liam Cullen on 21:15 - Apr 26 by ReslovenSwan1 | Watson said that is what they will try to do. Where Swansea can improve is the quality of the loans I hope there will be one or two and the club find a good solid goalkeeper. Govea, Parker, Abdullai, Cotterill and Wilson are quality and like 5 new signings. Ginnelly coming back. A centre forward of power and a goalkeeper are priorities. |
Do you think Cotterill has it in him ?

"Move on the under performers and try to recover value in the transfer market". Fan forum 2024. Cotterill has always looked tidy to me and has recently been a driving force for the u21s getting some goals from midfield. He had 10 or so games with Stockport. Established Wales u21 player. Average loan players have been blocking Swansea player development.

Those loan players must have been considered better than what we had though, otherwise it' makes no sense, is clearly stupid and self harming.

Was it a case that the upper and coming players weren't considered to be ready yet by the time Williams got to grips with the squad and taking into account injuries he went for the players with the most experience at Championship level to get us away from the relegation threat , those experienced players included Naughton, Allen, Fulton and even Cullen and Cooper, not young inexperienced loan players and using Walsh Yates and Lowe as players to alternate to secure points. Was that the right thing to do? I think most would agree it got us out of trouble given the state of the squad because of injuries. Think we will see more of our youngsters in the squad and getting game time next season, Williams seemed reluctant to use some of the loanees once he had his core players to get us out of trouble. Are loans of use, of cause they are, Rushworth is testament to that! Should Platino have been used more .maybe but needs dictated William's choices.

You can make arguments for and against the loans. Rushworth and Lowe were 100% worth it. Ashby got injured and Tymon stepped up. Patio is good going forward but a liability defensively. Humphries is poor at fullback but better in the middle of defence but we have better. Sagoe Jr just why. Obviously only my opinion.

My belief is Sagoe JR came to the Swans for reasons of his own development, different training styles and to see how football works in the EFL. Plus living away from London, and fending a bit more for himself. Arsenal will be more than happy with that, of course he didn’t get a real look in, and that’s down to the head coach, who we know has his favourites. He will return to his club a far more rounded figure based on his experience.

We had Lowe, Rushworth, Humphreys, Patino and Ashby playing at one point one old head and a lot of inexperienced youngsters, the youngsters were good at times but their inexperience showed, they needed stability in team selection but with all the injuries and different managers some didn't get the opportunity to show their best. Nice to see our youngsters getting game time.

He was never gonna stay Levien said as much because he had things mapped out for the lad, some won't accept that, but as we know the truth is alien to certain ones!

That's the point, the loans had to be better than what we already had or it made no sense. Rushworth was 100% a good decision, Lowe too. The others though?

I'm sure in a more settled team and not so many of them at same time the other loanee could have improved, by the time William's got here it was back to the wall time not helped by the fact that William's had to get up to speed as well and a run of games against the top teams in the division.
