Man City VAR Penalty 17:49 - May 4 with 672 viewsunion_jack

I clearly do not understand VAR and penalty decisions. Ref gives Man City a penalty after being asked nicely by the players and no overturning by VAR when it clearly was not a pen. Why can’t VAR overturn blatant mistakes like these?

Couldn’t agree more, despise them. But my question is about why VAR wouldn’t overturn the ref’s decision when it was blatantly wrong.

Because they won the prem.
They could win everything for many years .
They have killed off any competition by ways that ,well, you know .
They seek to control the entire game here
They get what they want

I’ve not got over our despicable shafteing by them and officials in that cup game .

I thought that was the point of VAR, to correct blatantly wrong decisions!

At least I'm sure they said it was to correct clear and obvious errors, maybe not!

I was all for VAR when it was announced and if implemented the way it was promised, I still would be.

If it takes 15 replays and 4 minutes to make a decision, it’s not a clear and obvious error. Run with the on field decision.

Yeah but this isn't even that, this is being touted as a clear and obvious error that VAR hasn't corrected.

So it's used for what we were told it wouldnt be used for, very close calls. Then it's not used to correct a clear and obvious error.

It's a joke.

Apparently football is now looking to not consider "a non foul contact in the box" as a non foul. " But there was contact" dim football pundits say. Yes it is a contact sport..

For a penalty there must be a foul as with anywhere else on the field. I thought the ref yesterday was excellent and fair.

The original decision was a shocker, VAR failure to overturn even worse. Had he not given it, no way would have VAR overturned it.

Money is power, behind the scenes one of their multi billionaire owners could bring down individuals at the EFP and FA. And they know it. Money corrupts.

Incident in the Liverpool game today, Joe Gomez kicking Brennan Johnson I the face whilst clearing the ball virtually off the line. Anywhere else on the field a 100% free kick, checked by VAR, why not a pen, can someone explain it to me? I bet if that was Sheff U or Luton etc against 1 of the big boys, it would have been given.
