We only got to the run in with a chance due to the results he got in Jan/Feb around that Stoke game when he was rotating the squad

Fair point, but you could also argue if he played the 'run-in' team earlier we might'nt have been looking at the table going into those tough final 2 fixtures thinking this could go seriously wrong.

I get 'alls well that ends well' and there are lots of calls Marti made that you think I like that (eg changing formation to 4-2-31 to suit the players he had, offloading Dozzell as soon as Hadyn came in & Colback returned to fitness) but there were also other calls he made in games before that final run-in where you think you're making this maybe more difficult than you need to in this Division.

Maybe one for after the Forwards End of Term Report and don't know if its on the horizon but I'd be interested in a www / ebi thread on Marti as reckon he probably made 7 out of 10 calls right, which I suppose for a foreign Manager new to the Championship mid-season is a decent return.

Agree, but disagree.

As a fanbase, I think we're individually allowed to set our standards wherever we like. Some have ridiculous expectations, others er, under... expect.

I honestly don't blame the players for the beginning of the season, nor do i think there was any lack of effort. Others will disagree, but to me it was obvious they had no direction, there was no real plan. I find it hard to blame (most of) them for that.

But to pull themselves out of that hole was remarkable. We looked dead in October. October. *October*. From that point to essentially be a mid-table team, curving towards a team trending towards top 6, is remarkable. It's a bit unfair to dismiss that as a 'failure' and also unfair to say 'had we gone down...' well, we didn't, and neither did we deserve to. Weekends where results went our way means very little. Many weekends no results went our way. It took us months to get out of the bottom three partly for that reason. But once we were out, we never went back.

Having said all that, I agree with pretty much all your ratings there. Is that Clive's from the report, or yours? I felt like you gave almost everyone a D or an E ;)

I get all of that and of course agree in the main, but there's been a losing mentality throughout the club for a long time, and it's shown up too often. Eustace said as much to Warburton when he joined, then Ainsworth doubled down by making out that we should be grateful just to be here, and a lot of the interview stuff with Marti felt refreshing because he seemed to be addressing exactly that - football is not about what you deserve, etc.

There's definitely signs that we're correcting things, and installing a proper culture to raise the bar. The Coventry win last day was so important for exactly that reason - it's a game that should matter, and it did - a massive step in the right direction, one of many since Marti was appointed.

What did he do that made it more difficult?
We only lost 6 games in 2024 and won 10, 4 defeats in the last 19 games. I'm not sure what more he can do. The reason we needed something in the last 2 games was because we were absolutely dreadful in the first 4 months of the season and only won twice

8 of the team that started the Blackburn game around that time started against Leeds.
It's not as if the run in team was hugely different to what we were doing in January/February

I know you have a thing about him not playing Dykes back then and rotating the strikers but in jan/Feb he started 7 out of 9 games (Cardiff, Watford, Millwall, Huddersfield, Blackburn, Bristol City, Leicester) and came off the bench in the other 2. He rotated the 2 in midfield all the way through, that didn't change in the run in
