We in Pembrokeshire are lucky we are getting a down to earth Labour man with working class background. To prove it I include part of his CV!!!

“Henry Tufnell has only been on the scene for a short period of time, has no local connection apart from the fact that his mother Rosina Jane Tufnell, who in 2021 was the High Sheriff of Gloucestershire, owns a second home in the constituency, and comes from a family that has a big landed estate in Gloucestershire with a manor house and a number of farms and houses on it. It certainly seems an unlikely background for a would-be Labour MP.”

In fact Mr Tufnell’s father Mark Tufnell is the current President of the Country Land and Business Association – until recently known as the Country Landowners’ Association – which represents the wealthiest of farmers and members of the landed gentry.

Mark Tufnell owns Calmsden Farms, a 2,000-acre estate in the Cotswolds, one of the most expensive agricultural areas in England.

Never knew getting old would happen so quick!

I’m assuming she wasn’t complaining this much when Corbyn booted out millibands candidate and replaced him with her. What goes around comes around.

learn our lessons. don' t vote tory, Labour or Libdem but choose a deent local independent candidate, someone who knows and loves their area.

We need a major change and Starmers labour dosn't look like major change, it looks more like Tory lite. or maybe Tory centrists.

This , we're stuck between a rock and a hard place .14 years of Tory mis rule and now after a taster with labour in Wales for the past 25 years then how can anyone get excited at the prospect of at least 10 with Labour in charge nationally , everyone should vote , not bothering is the worst thing we need at the moment ,every vote counts.

I'm amazed that some are viewing Starmer as some sort of messiah, I don't see it myself, but then again after listening to him a couple of times I lost interest, not the answer IMHO.

Choice is, do you want to be hit over the head with a baseball bat by the conservatives.

Or, hit over the head with a machete by Labour.

I’m not a Labour supporter, but the country is in a state after 14 years of Conservative rule, the last 5 years of which is just about the worst period of governance I can recall in terms of competence, corruption, rule breaking, dishonour, lying, gaslighting etc etc. There’s also been a huge transfer of wealth and we’re paying the price.

Immigration has gone off the Richter scale and we’re paying the price with massive increases in house prices, pressure on services, infrastructure and the NHS. Cameron sad he’d bring net migration down into the tens of thousands, but after 14 years of increases we’re now seeing a net increase of 3/4 million. We need invest in training, upskill int people and making people who’re on the dole work (there’s plenty swinging the lead) or do community service - work also needs to pay. I’d vote for a party who promised to deliver that, but none are.

NPT, in the last local elections replaced Labour with independents and the council is still a mess, there have been no improvements. Be careful what you wish for

Tbh mate, I don’t often vote, as I don’t see how I can help or what to do.

I know I don’t want labour or Tory.
I haven’t looked at my local candidates and not sure if it even matters.

How though?
How can my vote matter or help, if everyone will still vote for the big 2?

The answer to that question is it won't. Not unless enough people do it and we ate least return a good chunk of independent MP's. A big enough chunk to hold the balance of power and tell Labour, for they will win, that tey need to do something different if they want supporting.

Sadly, it won't happen. I will still vote that way though in the forlorn hope that others do so too.

It's almost unimaginable where Starmer is taking the Labour Party, my late father was a staunch Labour man and I was a Labour voter years ago, don't know what my late father would make of Starmer s Party, I'm just glad I have a party in Plaid Cymru who have held true to working class values and will put Wales first.

Anyone who thinks Labour is anything other than a collection of misfits, Tory’s and people clinging on to the seventies is not reading the script.

A great believer in taking anything you like to wherever you want to.

Win the middle class vote win the election. By middle class I mean what used to be working class. Job, mortgage season ticket holder, holidays abroad, posh meals etc. That's what Blair did and now Starmer will do. Sorry but the lefties won't have a say any longer.

Not sure I agree with Plaid having working class values. Their heartlands, their target audience so to speak are the more rural, countryside folk. They’ve never really made any ground in the old industrial areas, the big towns and cities because ultimately they don’t offer anything.

Free school meals, free child care, the setting up on a National energy company Ynni. Trying to restrict the number of holiday homes so hopefully locals can get a foot on the property ladder. I don't think Plaid Cymru shout loud enough of their achievements.

He's trying to be all things to all people but he'll probably end up being nothing to anybody.

He's been far too wishy washy on many things, specially Gaza and he's made a pledge about sustainable electricity by 2030 that he surely cannot keep.

I want rid of the tories but for viable alternative, Labour are hardly that.

This^

I find it quite amusing when people moan about the Labour party, we will NEVER EVER have a socialist government again.

Imo a middle of the road government is what we need, catering for both left and right and this Labour Party is atm the closest as the current tories are an absolute disgrace, the last few years they have made the rich richer and have started the decimation of the public services.

Yvette Cooper on Kuenssberg on Sunday earlier tried to waffle her way out of every quesion asked of her on how Labour can control immigration .

I know Politicians can try to wriggle out of any difficult situations , she took it to a new level .

After even more hot air and slagging off The Tories , some vague notions of no more flights to Rwanda , rightly or wrongly , no control of the small boats , but when they get here a New Improved Border focre to process the migrants , right , catch them before they do a runner though .

Tony Blair and his Human Rights lawyer Misses allowed mass migration into the UK way before The Tories , look into your own Parties history first before finger pointing .

Lets hope Monster Raving Loony Party appear on my ballot paper , X marks that spot .
